At the press conference in Dublin I was able to shoot with the new Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18 digital Megazoom camera. The Panasonic Lumix FZ18 is a camera for the photographer who is into a variety of photographic shooting. Although the camera is easy to handle and incorporates a range of pre-programmed scenes, it is offering a range of photographic settings like P/S/A/M for the more experienced photographer. I took the Panasonic camera with me to the Dublin area and was able to test the new intelligent camera features in combination with the MEGA O.I.S system. I have to remind you that the images of the Panasonic Lumix FZ18 are still a pre-production level, not final level!
The new Panasonic FZ18 features a 28mm wide angle Leica DC lens with a powerful 18x optical zoom with f/2.8 brightness. Of course Panasonic provides the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18 with Intelligent Image Stabilization system that comprehends MEGA O.I.S.(Optical Image Stabilizer) to suppress hand-shake. A new feature is the Intelligent Scene Selector that automatically sets the appropriate scene mode according to the scene you're going to take. Face Detection system helps the Panasonic Lumix FZ18 to recognize a human face and focus and set AE.
The sample images of the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18 digital Megazoom camera are made in Dublin during the Panasonic press meeting. After the introduction of some new Lumix digital camera models I was able to shoot a variety of pictures with the Panasonic FZ18 camera. Remarkable features of the camera are light weight, compact, optical image stabilizer, intelligent camera features and a range of settings that would make the camera ideal for enthusiastic photographers.
