| A lot of displays face difficulties showing the subject recognizable with low lighting. This has been a major problem for the past years. Some manufacturers have their solution;, Olympus uses BrightCapture technology. BrightCapture technology brightens LCD depictions. It doesn't work by merely using a portion of the available pixel information from the camera's CCD as usually is the case, but rather by making use of all of it. This means that more data is available to return a considerably brighter live view on the LCD with better colour reproduction and less noise. BrightCapture technology also enhances the performance of various shooting modes. While the total image resolution is lowered, the resulting higher light sensitivity provides the extra benefit of more rapid focusing in low light and the possibility to use faster shutter speeds which effectively reduces the potential for image blur due to camera-shake or fast moving objects. |
The Olympus Mju 700 incorporates intelligent software that will enrich the experience of digital photography. The Edit function in the camera offers some features that enable editing the captured images. In case red eye reduction did not work out you can fix this problem with red-eye fix. In case you would like the feeling of old-fashioned pictures you can turn your captured colour moments into black and white or even sepia. But you can do more than just changing colours, think of creating a calendar or framing your favourite captured shot, rotating it some degrees, giving it some more saturation or vivid colours and before you know you have completely post-processed your images already in the camera, instead of via your computer or notebook. This kind of intelligent in-camera software will become more important in todays and future digital cameras. |

| You can connect the camera via an optional AC Adapter. An AC adapter is useful for time-consuming tasks such as image downloads to a computer or when running a slideshow for a long period of time. To use an AC adapter for this camera, the multi-adapter (Olympus CB-MA1/accessory) is required. It is not recommended using any other AC adapter with the Olympus Mju 700. |
The Olympus Mju 700 is able to capture video clips in a VGA resolution (640 x 480 pixels) at 15 frames per second. The video clips that are recorded are with sound. The internal memory of approximately 19.1MB is sufficient to record 17 sec in the highest quality (SHQ - 640x480/15fps) to 2 min, 9 sec in the lowest quality (SQ - 160x120/15fps). |
Sometimes it is needed to correct the automatic exposure of the camera. Thanks to the fact that you can immediately see the result on the display of the camera this function is very easy to use. Use the exposure compensation to get the correct exposure, such as shots with very high contrast between the background and the subject. |

| The self-timer function is one of the most basic functions on a camera. Although the feature is as old as you can remember, it is often used. When the self-timer is selected via the multi-controller an icon appears on the LCD display. Activate it, make your composition, press the shutter button and try to be at the right place at the right time. It is always fun to find out what the results are; people beheaded, totally out of composition or even out of the frame. |
With the small display button on the back of the camera you can decide what kind of information you want to see on your 2.5 inch display. In shooting mode you can choose between four different information displays; Normal, Simple, Frame Assist (grid lines) and Histogram. In playback mode you may choose from Normal, Detailed, No information and Histogram. |
The Olympus Mju 700 incorporates 7.1 effective Megapixels. Of course you don't need all those Megapixels to capture a shot and print it out on a 10x15cm/4x6 inch format. In order to get some extra space on your flash card you can change the resolution from high, 3072x2304 low compression to 640x480 standard compression; 8 resolution settings and two compression rates for the highest resolution setting. |

| Although the camera offers an automatic white balance it is sometimes necessary to correct an automatic white balance captured shot. In the menu of the camera you find six other white balance settings; Sunny day, Cloudy day, Tungsten light, Fluorescent lamp 1, Fluorescent lamp 2 and Fluorescent lamp 3. |
Normally the sensitivity is automatically adjusted according to the conditions of the subject. But sometimes you need to change the ISO setting. The Olympus Mju 700 offers an ISO range of 64 - 1600 ISO. A low value lowers the sensitivity for daylight shooting of clear, sharp pictures. The higher the value, the better the camera's light sensitivity and ability to shoot with a fast shutter speed and in low light conditions. |

"The new Olympus Mju 700 is a great compact digital camera. Its look and feel is great for those who are searching for a light-weight camera to carry along with them all the time. The camera's operation is friendly and in fact I seldom had to use the manual to find out what the purpose was of a particular setting. The camera manufacturers have left the 4 Megapixel and lower class behind and are only focussing on 5MP and higher, compact or system cameras. The Olympus Mju 700 is a design camera, stylish, light weight and perfect for the entry-level and snap shooter. As soon as we get our hands on a full production model we will publish an Olympus Mju 700 digital camera review..."
