The Nikon D40x digital SLR with a compact and lightweight 7.5x zoom Nikon 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 ED-IF AF-S DX attached. The Silent Wave Motor, which is built into the lens, offers quiet and fast auto focus performance.
Help menus are easy to navigate and the in-camera retouch menu makes it simple to edit and enhance your images on the large, bright 2.5-inch LCD monitor. The 2.5 inch LCD screen of the Nikon D40x reproduces the pictures clearly.
The Nikon D40x DSLR incorporates a Secure Digital format card slot and supports the SD flash memory card up to 2GB or the new memory platform of SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) with capacities up to 4GB.

Via the Hi-Speed USB 2.0 interface you can transfer your high resolution images quickly and easily to your desktop or laptop. The Nikon D40x does support the MTP protocol (Media Transfer Protocol) which in fact is an enhanced PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol).
The inbuilt flash employs Nikon's i-TTL flash control for greater precision in flash exposure evaluation that achieves better automatic flash balance. i-TTL flash control also helps realize built-in digital flash effects.
The D40x camera's front with Nikon F mount and support of a range of high-quality AF and DX Nikkor lenses with AF coupling and AF contacts. The Nikon D40x supports AF-S, AF-I lenses with all functions and other G or D AF Nikkor all functions supported except auto focus.
