Dynax 5D - Anti-Shake system
The Konica Minolta Dynax 5D features a built-in Anti-Shake system. This innovative system performs with all Dynax system lenses (with the camera's AF macro-zoom 1X to 3X specialist lenses and Anti-Shake function turned off). The Dynax 5D digital SLR inherited this great future from its big brother, the Konica Minolta Dynax 7D, the world's first digital SLR (Interchangeable-lens digital SLR camera) with built-in Anti-Shake technology and CCD shift mechanism that is compatible with all Dynax system lenses. The Anti-Shake technology provides the equivalent compensation effect with a shutter speed of 2-3 stops slower. This correction effect varies with the shooting conditions and lens used. Now it's possible to reduce blur caused by camera shake, even when taking photos in dimly lit or twilight scenes, in natural light with a telephoto lens, as well as macro shots, without relying on a higher ISO setting, the aid of a flash or tripod.

Anti-shake responds quickly to both broad, slow-swaying motion of the camera body and the higher frequency shaking typical of camera shake caused by the photographer's hands. The Anti-shake technology can be switched on or off via a dedicated switch on the camera's back, and an Anti-shake indicator is displayed on the viewfinder to keep the user informed when it's active.

The Konica Minolta Dynax 5D offers a simple, user-friendly configuration of dials and controls. Even beginners with no experience at all, or digital compact camera upgrade users will quickly feel familiar with the ergonomics. Added functions provide users who are moving up from more basic models with intuitive control; for example, the exposure mode dial also operates the five options of the Digital Subject Program Selector, and an independent lever ensures quick and easy white balance control. Electronic menus display adjustable parameters to meet the demands of advanced photographers, and a menu call button simplifies menu navigation. Enhancing ease of use further still, operating procedures that use common keys have been standardized across functions/screens so that users can navigate intuitively without having to refer the instructions.

A bright, clear viewfinder displays essential shooting parameters at the bottom of the frame, providing users with all the information they need to make creative adjustments quickly. It also incorporates a spherical acute matte focusing screen for accurate, bright critical focusing assessment. And, to accommodate the camera's smaller design, the Konica Minolta Dynax 5D employs a newly developed forward-bend finder optical system and roof-mirror type of pentaprism.
To transfer the data from your flash card the Konica Minolta Dynax 5D can be connected via a USB 2.0 Full Speed interface. The interface is placed behind the lit of the flash card compartment. Slide the card-slot door toward the back of the camera and open it. A small interface will be visible. Attach the smaller plug of the USB cable to the camera and plug the other end into your notebook/computer's USB port. Turn the camera on and a connection will be made.
Very handy is the built-in AF illuminator. The built-in flash is used as an AF illuminator. Just raise the flash when the scene is too dark for the camera to focus. The flash will fire a few short bursts to provide enough light for the camera to focus. The Konica Minolta Dynax 5D is equipped with a hot-shoe. When an external flash is attached the flash unit will function as the AF illuminator. The range is approximately 1 to 5 m. It does not fire when using the continuous AF focus mode.

Before you can use the Konica Minolta Dynax 5D digital SLR you will definitely need to charge the Lithium-ion battery. To do so is simple, plug the power cord into the back of the charger (don't forget to plug the other end into a power outlet too..), make sure that the battery contacts are toward the charger, and slide the battery into the unit. The indicator lamp glows to show the battery is charging, it turns off when it is fully charged. It will take about 150 minutes for a full charge.
Besides running on a powerful Lithium-ion battery the Dynax 5D also allows connecting to a power outlet via the optional AD adapter AC-11. Open the DC terminal cover placed on the left on the back of the camera. This little cover is attached to the body to prevent loss. Insert the mini plug of the optional AD adapter and you can go ahead. The optional AC adapter AC-11 is recommended when the camera is attached with a notebook/computer for longer periods or during heavy use.
