Thanks to Canon Netherlands for placing a Canon PowerShot A570 IS camera sample at our disposal very fast, I was able to capture life in Las Vegas before and during PMA 2007. The new Canon A570 IS camera has been officially introduced some weeks ago during a worldwide introduction day, together with various other PowerShot and Digital IXUS compact cameras and the impressively fast professional Canon EOS 1 D Mark III digital SLR camera. The new Canon PowerShot A570 IS digital camera is a 7 Megapixel model, equipped with a 4x optical zoom featuring optical Image Stabilizer, DIGIC III processor and for the first time the incredibly useful Face Detection Technology. The camera's compact size and its fairly light weight are extremely comfortable for travelling around; for example on the PMA trip or sightseeing on the Center Strip. Unfortunately the camera lacks a vari-angle LCD monitor but the optical image stabilizer makes up for it. Locations such as the Center Strip in Las Vegas are most photogenic in twilight so this is where the image stabilizer comes in handy. The Canon PowerShot A570 IS camera image samples are taken by a production model camera and should be judged accordingly.
