Samsung introduces three new digital cameras at Photokina 2002 show
Samsung camera is getting to become a digital player with a nice line-up of seven digital cameras. Even a protecting house for the Samsung Digimax 340 and 410 is now available. This house is waterproof to an impressive 70m where all the functions of the camera remain usable. The SPH-340/410 is constructed from clear polycarbonate material and has O-ring compression to keep the camera waterproof.

The complete line-up of the Samsung digital camera is a range of from 1.3 to 4.0 Megapixel. The new three Samsung digital cameras are the Digimax 101, 201 and 240. The Digimax 101 is a 1.3 Megapixel camera with a 2x digital zoom. The camera is compact and lightweight and is the entry-level model of Samsung's new range of cameras. This new model is pretty standard, an optical viewfinder, 1.6" TFT LCD display on the back of the camera, video mode with a time limit that is dependent on the available memory capacity and an NTSC/PAL video output. Besides the several flash modes the Digimax 101 has a selectable ISO sensitivity (Auto, 100, 200) and selectable white balance. Some details of this new model are a 46mm lens (equiv. to 35mm camera), ½" CMOS sensor, fixed focus from 1m to infinity, movie clip resolution of 320x240 pixels, a weight of 150g (without batteries and card) and dimensions of 108.5x58.5x43.5mm. The Samsung Digimax is powered by two AA batteries and is compatible with a CR-V3 Lithium battery. The images are stored on an internal 8MB memory or on an external Secure Digital or Multimedia card. The Digimax 101 supports DPOF.

The second new Samsung camera is the Digimax 201, a 2 Megapixel camera with a 2x digital zoom. This camera is almost the same as the Digimax 101 except the increased resolution and some extra features. The sensor of this model is a 1/3.2" CCD, a Samsung lens of 43mm (equiv. to 35mm camera) with a brightness of f2.8, macro mode with a minimal focus distance of 18cm and its dimensions are 94x66x40mm.
The third new Digimax camera is the Samsung Digimax 240. This camera has a 2 Megapixel resolution with a 3x optical zoom and 2x digital zoom. It has a compact body, 1 1.6" TFT LCD display on the back of the camera to preview or review with multi languages. Due to the video NTSS/PAL video output the camera can also be connected to a TV screen. Selectable ISO settings (Auto, 100, 200), 6 flash modes and a selectable white balance are features that complete the Digimax 240. This new model is powered by two AA batteries and is also compatible with a CR-V3 Lithium battery. The images are stored on an internal 8MB flash memory or an external Secure Digital or Multimedia card. The Digimax 240 also supports DPOF.
