Short first look on the Casio QV5700
We had for a short moment our hands on the new Casio QV5700 so we can give you a first short look on this new 5 Megapixel model from Casio. The new topmodel from Casio has a high-resolution 5.36 Megapixel CCD and is just like the Casio QV4000 using the high quality f2.0 - f2.5 3x optical zoom lens that has the name Canon on it. There is an optional adapter available that can be used to connect various filters or converters to the lens. The body is clearly the same as its 4 Megapixel brother the QV4000.

The Casio supports both 340MB and 1GB Microdrive and accepts of course also the CompactFlash type I card. The 5.36 Megapixel CCD supplies a maximum resolution of 2560x1920 pixels. In addition to automatic ISO setting it is now possible to choose from a range of ISO 50, 100, 200, 400 and even 800. The images can be stored in JPEG or in TIFF format.

The QV5700 also includes the Best Shot mode which we could also find in the QV4000 model. This Best Shot mode makes it possible to shoot in the correct way with the correct settings for portrait, landscape, macro, etc. Next to this fully automatic setting there are settings for the photographer like aperture priority, shutter speed priority or a fully manual mode. The control panel on top of the camera and even the menu structure are very easy to handle where the former QV4000 user will notice that there has not much changed.

We just had this model for a very short moment in our hands and at this moment we can only conclude that the QV5700 is much from that we have known of the QV4000, some minor updates and an increase of the resolution. We will review this model later when we return from a little show called Photokina that has something to with digital imaging... This model will be on the Dutch market without the 1GB IBM Microdrive and it will have an estimated price of around Euro 869,-
