First impression of the super compact Casio EXILIM EX-S20
The well-known and successful series of ultra thin EXILIM cameras are welcoming a new member of the family. The Casio EXILIM EX-S20 is following the style that made the ultra thin cameras famous. The EX-S20 is super thin, only 11.3mm thick which makes the camera 10% smaller. It's one of these cameras that holds one's own with the average cell phone regarding weight (78 grams) and size (83x53x11.3mm). The camera can be carried around effortless, around the neck or very nonchalant in the pocket of one's trousers. The new EX-S20 also has a little brother, the EX-M20. The only difference is that this last one has a built-in microphone and loudspeaker to enable sound during recording or playing when making a video clip. Further more the EX-M20 camera can play a MP3, has voice recording, select audio snapshots and different sounds that appear when starting the camera, etc. Both digital cameras are practically directly ready for use after starting the camera. With a start-up time of 0.9 second and an interval of release of appr. 0.01 second it is not so much the camera that decides whether a snapshot will come out well but it's more the reaction rate of the photographer. The EXILIM EX-S20 and M20 cameras belong to the fastest ones of their kind.

A very nice and handy detail is the possibility to put the camera in the cradle and show the images like a slide-show. A thumbnail of every first image taken at a certain date appears in the built-in Favourite calendar. The images are stored on the internal memory of 10MB or on an external Secure Digital or MultiMedia memory card. Beside the non-moving images the EX-S20 is also able to record and play a video clip with a maximum of 60 seconds (without sound, EX-M20 with sound). The images are transferred onto a computer through the USB interface connection. The camera supports Exifprint, PRINT Image Matching II and Epson ESB Direct Print.
