Nikon D2h
Of course Nikon didn't leave his showpiece at home during the CeBIT Bilisim 2003. Nikon steals the show with this working horse, the D2H . One who actually worked with the camera, even if it is for a few hours, experiences the power of the camera very closely. The sound of the shutter working away 8 images in one single second at a ravenous speed only by a slight pressure of the finger, is very impressive.
The LBCAST technology used by Nikon on the image sensor offers undiscovered advantages so far, comparing to the present generation of CCD's. When we explain it in a simple way it means that the LBCAST technology enables the use of less components around a pixel. As a direct result a certain amount of pixels will use less space on an image sensor, in other words, it is possible to put a larger amount of pixels on the same surface. The LBCAST tecnology used on this Nikon D2H opens perspectives for the new generation of digital camera's. This new technology will be used on the new generation of the carmera's, low as well as high resolution camera's. This promising technology will not only be available for the PRO but also for the amateur segment. A big advantage of the LBCAST technology is that the energy use decreases drastically. Beside that the noise proportion is 1/3 compared to the standard CCD technology.
The Nikon D2H was tested during the World Championship of Athletics in Paris by different professional photographers. The diverse settings on various D2H camera's were tested and at the end of the Championship the various camera's are evaluated. The overall impression of the photographers who used this camera was very good, the photographers were very enthusiastic. The combination of speed, image quality and robustity make the D2H to a camera of which professional photographer looking from a professional view, could only have dreamt of. The reactions that we received were more like playing a waiting game and even criticizing at first. However when a few photographers had the chance to finally try and test these camera's the reactions changed very rapidly. The large LCD monitor (2.5-inch) looked at from a technical point of view a detail that is often forgotten, is mentioned every time as the part that was missing on the other camera's. Quickly review the image to judge the brightness and composition is something that is really desired in practise. The Nikon D2H is a camera that can make you go on talking about it. We are very curious to find out the reactions when the camera is finally available which will be a fact in Oktober 2003, we expect.
