I recently bought the Olympus SP 700 as my first digital camera. So far I have found it very easy to use, with crystal clear images. The large screen is impressive. At first, I was concerned that it seemed you have to press the shutter button pretty hard to take a picture, and I thought the resulting movement would blur the image. However this didn't happen so presume if you ensure you hold the camera steady that's not a problem. I'd recommend the Olympus SP700 as a very user friendly camera if you have no experience of digital cameras.
