Sony Cybershot DSC P32 Conclusion

The Sony DSC-P32 is a digital entry level camera but it certainly deserves its place amongst the many 3 Megapixel cameras because of its user-friendliness of the various settings and the fine image quality. The image resolution of 3 Megapixels gives a good result, also when the user of this camera likes to see his or her digital images printed on paper. The DSC-P32 offers everything a starter could wish for; convenience and user friendliness.

I used the image resolution of 3 Megapixels to print various images taken indoors, outdoors, in sunny weather and cloudy weather, on a regular home inkjet printer. The images look fine apart from the occasional exposure failure. When I look back a few years, it is amazing how fast the development of the digital camera and also of the home printer took place. The combination of digital camera and home printer has now become reality for many people. The fact of being able to take a picture, print it and hold the photo in your hands within minutes, is amazing. The prices have dropped lately but the technical performance has gone up to a higher level. The quality of the print paper is of a very high standard. And one who compares a good print with a traditional print has to go through a lot of trouble to find a difference! Where does it all lead to? Nowadays more and more images are taken. Sure, lots of digital images will only end up on the hard drive while the traditional photos that always end up on paper will be more easily shared with family and friends. Personally I consider the period we are in now as a transition, a changeover. We will find different ways of sharing digital images. The availability of devices like the Sony DSC-P32 and a home inkjetprinter add to the total digital photography experience. Taking the digital images is not a difficult technical performance anymore, the opposite: it is pleasant and also printing the images is easy. Maybe your local photo shop dealer doesn't approve of home printing and managing the images, but it still concerns the image and the dealer still has sufficient possibilities to play a role in digital photography.

I used the Sony DSC-P32 camera for one week under diverse light conditions. The camera reacts really fast, offers good exposure and adds to a high quality print. The compact size allows you to carry it with you in the pocket of your trousers or the inner-pocket. The weight is no obstacle! The basic settings of the camera enable you to use it in diverse situations and conditions, and one who wants just a little bit more than the standard setting can use his or her creativity when using the extra settings. The Sony DSC-P32 is well-worth the money and again this product is another typical Sony product, delivered with charger, 2100mAh batteries and very important a thorough written manual, easy to read and well-illustrated. If you are looking for a digital camera which offers user friendliness and quality, you have to consider the Sony DSC-P32, it's recommendable!

Sony Cybershot DSC P32 Flash Memory

A 16MB Memory Stick is standard delivered with the Sony DSC-P32 camera. This storage capacity is nice to start with but one will have to buy a memory card with higher storage capacity to be able to store more than the maximum of 10 images. (Highest quality / highest resolution). In combination with the resolution of the DSC-P32 a 64MB or 128MB Memory Stick is recommended. (41 or 82 images in the highest quality / resolution). The DSC-P32 is one of Sony's first digital cameras to support the new Memory Stick PRO. This very fast and available with high capacity memory card will feel more at home in a high resolution digital camera but it is good to see that Sony has adjusted his whole line of digital cameras.

The Memory Stick is inserted in the memory compartment at the bottom of the camera. This compartment is neatly placed in the housing of the camera and covered with a solid cap.

The side of the camera has room for two AA batteries. These NiMH batteries are delivered standard with the camera as well as the battery charger. An advantage because on a regular base I still get to see cameras that are delivered without the NiMH batteries and charger. It looks like the days of the digital camera as an absorber of a huge amount of energy are over. The improvements of the capacity of the battery and the important improvements in the energy management of the camera and the energy use of the applied components have led to the fact that a digital camera can easily take a minimum of 200 images with one set of fully charged batteries. Also this Sony DSC-P32 camera, this model is capable of taking some 320 images using the LCD monitor.
