Sanyo Xacti C1 Review conclusion

Sanyo is an important player on the digital camera market. Not so much because of the fact that Sanyo has its own brand line of digital cameras in his assortment but because of the fact that Sanyo acts as a successful producer for third parties, amongst them some A-brands. Reputedly Sanyo's part is considerable. The introduction of the Xacti C1 EX last year was received enthusiastically. The concept at the time was innovating and the design too. The only negative part of it was the introduction price of ? 749. Ok, including a 128MB Secure Digital memory card but the current price of a 128MB card lays around ? 50.

In general the Xacti C1 EX camera is an attractive digital camera. The design is beautiful and the camera is easy to use. The division of the menu in Basic and Expert is an inventive way to increase the user friendliness of the camera. The useful docking station completes the story. Still we are criticising something: the price. It simply is too high. This camera would be extremely suitable to be adopted by the mass but the price tag is the biggest obstacle. Beside that some features don't meet the nowadays standards. The time span when storing movie clips on the delivered memory card is far too long, the camera is not capable of taking series of images and the range of the internal flash is too limited.

The operation of the camera is fine and well-organised. The camera fits perfectly in the hand and is comfortable considering weight and size to carry around with you. The quality of the movie clips is excellent and the quality of the stereo sound that comes with it is a welcoming contribution.

The Sanyo is a beautifully designed digital camera which has the honour to act as a model of the first generation video/photo cameras. If Sanyo has the possibility to produce such a model with a more interesting price tag and if they can add more applications and improvements then I don't see a reason why this concept can't become a success. For now the salesman will have to do his best to convince the customer about the concept while the price tag is the biggest obstacle.
