Panasonic Lumix DMC FX35 Conclusion

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX35 digital compact camera
The Lumix compact camera line of Panasonic has been setting the Thames on fire for a while now. The models appeared sequentially at a high speed and proved quite successful. However, it is now a question of keeping focussed and making necessary improvements to existing items rather than continuous upgrading of the specifications. Naturally, it is not only Panasonic guilty of this, it is the entire industry. And from the side-line it all seems so easy; develop a design with care and improve it. Still, the tide seems to be turning here and there, and soon we will see the first baby- steps of several manufacturers not increasing the pixels, but improving the existing concept. We will put at least one model through the test even before the Photokina 2008. To be continued...

Panasonic FX35 offers 4x optical zoom and image stabilisation
The Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FX35 is a beautifully and solidly designed compact camera. Its relatively light weight and compact size are perfect to take the camera with you at all times. This might be a commonplace remark, yet this is the main strength of the ultra compact camera. And it can only be appreciated that Panasonic has equipped this camera with a 4x optical wide angle zoom lens combined with the in-house optical image stabilization system (MEGA O.I.S.). The lens performs excellently with very little chromatic aberration and incredibly low distortion, on the other hand there is visible blur towards the edges which remains visible even after zooming in.

Signal / noise ratio of the Panasonic DMC-FX35
Although the 10 Megapixel deliver more resolution and offer the creative photographer sufficient pixels to make crops or other editions; the signal/noise ratio and the fight against noise continue. The internal noise reduction has to work hard and even at low ISO of 200 the results of this fight are visible. Artificially sharpening through image editing software inside the camera has to compensate the loss of detail; however, it remains a concession. Panasonic are not the only ones coping with the problem as to how to combine high resolution with a small amount of noise, however; we have seen better performances of competitors.

Panasonic Lumix FX35 offers optimal easy of use
The ease of use is very much in order, although the menu structure is not always that logical. The intelligent software does a lot of work for you and we have to admit that the Panasonic LUMIX FX35 passes with flying colours. The camera automatically recognizes a lot, which facilitates shooting and makes it even easier than it already was. The Panasonic LUMIX FX35 aims at the user who just wants a camera for its ease with few manual settings and who is less demanding than the advanced or seasoned photographer.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX35; Good automatic digital camera
The Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FX35 suited me very much. If you are looking for a camera with an interesting zoom range to be able to not only capture a landscape, but also a portrait, and you just want to make nice snapshots; the FX35 is an excellent combination that will give you a lot of joy. The purists among us, demanding as far as image quality is concerned, who want to use a handy compact camera in an all-round way, will criticize more. Too soon, too much noise is visible at low ISO settings, making the camera less all-round than desired. This is partly compensated for the effectively working MEGA O.I.S., yet it is still a missed chance. However; the Panasonic will find its way undoubtedly. The demanding photographer will probably go for the LX series Panasonic offer.

Panasonic Lumix DMC FX35 Flash Memory

Panasonic Lumix FX35 - SD / SDHC memory card
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX35 features a 10 Megapixel image sensor increasing the amount of data to be processed and stored. It should not be a problem for the consumer to find a high storage capacity memory card, since the memory market is constantly increasing the storage capacity and lowering the prices. We advise to go for a 1GB storage capacity at the least or to go for the new SDHC memory card with a minimum storage capacity of 4GB.

Considering 1GB of storage capacity:
