Olympus C-7070 Zoom Conclusion

Olympus C7070 - Professional ambitions
The Olympus Camedia C7070 Wide Zoom definitely has professional ambitions. It features a sturdy and beautiful housing, a unique dual auto focus system and more than sufficient settings to meet the requirements of the demanding photographer. The resolution of 7.1 Megapixels delivers excellent A3+ prints. A high quality lens, a high bright and a nice zoom range add to the camera's possibilities and versatility. This means that already on paper the Olympus Camedia C7070 Wide Zoom performs greatly.

Olympus C7070 - Menu and Buttons
Once put to practice the camera's performance doesn't disappoint me at all. The Olympus Camedia C7070 Wide Zoom feels solid enough to be able to cope with the rougher work. The camera lies perfectly in the hand and the vary-angle monitor is great to work with. Unfortunately not all buttons are placed logically, which makes them kind of lose their usefulness. This is a pity because Olympus has given thoughts as to which functions are being used frequently. You probably will use the menu a lot more often. And also this menu could do with some improvements. Just a little too often you get lost. You have to start scrolling through the menu again, because the last option you were looking at doesn't stay in the memory. It's annoying not being able to set the time span after which the camera activates the sleep mode. I'd like to see that function at the first firmware upgrade please!

Olympus C7070 - Adjustments
Despite this sometimes awkward interface, the Olympus Camedia C7070 Wide Zoom certainly can't be ignored. The 143-point focus works extremely well. The lens delivers fine results, most surely if you open the aperture a little. On the whole no comments can be made about the image quality; however it doesn't stick out either. Or maybe it's the noise sticking out; because it's visible very quickly above ISO 100.

Olympus C7070 - Extra features
The addition of a number of special functions on the Olympus C7070 makes up for a lot. For example the option to use the extremely effective grid with cross for making a good composition. And Pixelmapping, which detects incorrect pixels and corrects them. Also the swift response of the Olympus Camedia C7070 Wide Zoom, adds to the positive impression I got from the camera. Just as the swivelling monitor.

Olympus C7070 - Attractive camera
Olympus has brought an attractive camera on the market with this Olympus Camedia C7070 Wide Zoom that also has an appealing price tag on it. This makes the Olympus Camedia C7070 perfectly suitable as your first camera but also as a second camera besides a digital SLR for example. A fine image quality, a real wide-angle and a few very interesting functions let you forget the few minors that the camera has, and it makes you enjoy this Olympus camera to the fullest.

Olympus C-7070 Zoom Flash Memory

Olympus C7070 - SanDisk memory card
The xD-Picture memory card is a very small card, even smaller than the popular Secure Digital card. Nevertheless, high capacities are also available. At present only Fujifilm and Olympus, and SanDisk under the name of the here fore mentioned brands deliver these memory cards. The cards from Fujifilm are a little cheaper than the other cards, but they lack a special panorama function, that the Olympus cards do offer. CompactFlash is one of the most frequently used memory cards and therefore rather cheap. Large capacities are also available. I'd advice you to purchase a fast CompactFlash card, because the standard CompactFlash cards tend to work a bit slow in combination with the Camedia C7070. There was hardly any difference between the xD and a SanDisk Ultra II CompactFlash card. A memory card like the SanDisk Extreme 3 series of CompactFlash memory cards adds undoubtedly to the write and read speed of data.
