ConcordConcord Camera Corp. announced at PMA, which we attended and reported about, the new Concord 5345z digital camera. Concord's first metal body digital camera offers 5 Megapixels, 3x optical/4x digital zoom (12x total zoom) and rapid response controls. The Concord 5345z beats the competition with a unique combination of options for both advanced and beginner photographers alike, such as 19 scene mode selections, center weighted, spot & multi-pattern metering, auto and preset white balance selections, AVI video, DPOF support along with Concord's popular easy-to-use camera interface. The Concord 5345z is housed in a compact, stylish metal body with dimensions of 88x60.5x32.7mm. The Concord 5345z fits easily into a jeans or shirt pocket.

Just choose from the selections to fit your shooting environment, such as party, night scene, sundown, candlelight, fireworks, etc., and the camera will automatically program the best shutter speed, aperture, and flash setting for your surroundings. The camera also features a continuous shooting mode and is able to snap three shots, one right after the other. AVI video clips can be shot at 15 frames per second in the QVGA mode and the length is only limited by the capacity of the SD card inserted in the camera.

The camera has 9.7MB of internal memory and will automatically save images to internal memory if no Secure Digital card (SD) is inserted. The Concord 5345z also includes two rechargeable NiMH AA batteries, a battery charger and a battery indicator which continuously monitors battery-life on the 1.6" TFT LCD screen, reminding the user when to change batteries.

Advanced photographers are able to use center weighted, spot and multi-pattern metering for fine-tuning the focus and exposure of shots, as well as user selectable ISO, user selectable White Balance, Exposure Compensation +/- 2 EV in 1/3 EV steps, DPOF support for printing, and a Macro Mode to 10-70cm - all providing the maximum flexibility.

The Concord 5345z is expected to be available in April 2004.
