PretecPretec Electronics unveils its fastest CompactFlash card during PMA. With a write speed of almost double the leading brand's high speed CF card in the market today, users of Pretec CF cards can enjoy the exciting multimedia experience in applications such as high resolution digital cameras, where faster write speed means lower set-up time between pictures. Tested with WA(1) enabled Kodak Professional DCS Pro 14n (under current firmware), the industry's highest resolution (14 Megapixels) digital SLR camera, which displays the write speed of the CF card, Pretec Cheetah CF card scores at 4.9MB/s. With sustained read speed of 13MB/s and write speed of 12MB/s, Pretec Cheetah series CF card is the highest speed CF card today.
If using the speed of 150KB/s as 1X performance benchmark, the write speed of Pretec Cheetah CF card is categorized as 80X. Capacities ranging from 256MB to 6GB, the introduction of the high performance CF card address the growing need of higher density and faster speed data storage in leading-edge products and systems. Pretec 80X Cheetah CF card will start sampling this month and delivery by the end of March.

Pretec has been consistently demonstrated the highest capacity CF card in the world from 64MB (10/1998) to 6GB (3/2003), with higher capacity to be announced soon. In addition to the excellent track record of Pretec's relentless pursuit of innovation towards higher capacity and higher performance, Pretec has also established the reliability reputation by becoming the first CF card supplier in the world which can provide industrial and military grade rugged CF cards constructed with precision mechanics, full metal protection, sustain a wide range working temperature (-40C to approximately +125C) and offer an ultimate level of data protection and security features.

We expect more Pretec news within some weeks from now, just think in GB's and you will know what to expect. Just keep in mind that announcing a product does not mean that the availability is going along in the same time lap. Announcements, high pricing, waiting for a mass production and finally lower the prices is the way to go for.
