SamsungIt's just getting boring; again we can inform you about two new Samsung cameras. The launch of its new Digimax 370 and 430 digital cameras at PMA 2004 means another entry level camera with a very interesting price tag. An economical 4.0 megapixel auto focus camera with 2.8x optical and 4x digital zoom, the Samsung Digimax 430 has an approximate street price of $229.99. The 430 has a 1/2.5-inch CCD that captures crisp images and a 1.5-inch color TFT LCD that enables users to quickly and easily review and preview. The 5cm macro mode allows users to capture crisp, clear images of subject matter as close as 5cm from the camera's lens.
Samsung launches Digimax 370 and 430 camerasSupporting eight different power sources (AA Alkaline, Digimax I-Pack, NI-MH, CR-V3, NiCd, 2 x NiZn, 2 x NiMn and AC adapter) the Digimax 430 offers numerous customizable scene modes Children, Landscape, Close-up, Sunset, Dawn, Backlight, Fireworks, Beach & Snow. Its multiple shooting modes include Auto, Manual, My Set, Scene and Night Scene. The camera's RGB Color Effect mode allows the user to control the levels of red, green and blue in images, greatly enhancing the creative capabilities of the camera. The Digimax 430 also supports both SD/MMC and Memory Stick Duo formats for external memory via its unique Multi Memory Card Slot. Digimax 430 users can capture movie clips with sound at a rate of up to 30fps.

With multiple flash modes, adjustable white balance and automatic ISO sensitivity, the Digimax 430 has everything consumers have come to expect from a high-end 4 megapixel digital camera, except the price tag. USB and user selectable NSTC/PAL connectors allow for high-speed transfer to a PC. The Digimax 430 has 32MB of internal memory, and also features a built in Multi Memory Card Slot that is memory Stick Duo and SD/MMC compatible. The camera ships with a 32MB SD memory card, providing users with 64MB of memory that’s ready to use right out of the box.

With a host of advanced features such as RGB Color Effect, 3x optical and 4x digital zoom, the Samsung Digimax 370 is the only compact digital in its class to offer such an impressive combination of quality and creative control. With an estimated street price of just $199.99, the Digimax 370 was designed to become an entry-level model.

With its combination mechanical and electrical shutter, the camera has a top shutter speed of 1/2000 of a second, and can capture long exposures up to one second, while its night mode extends the picture taking duration up to 16 seconds. In addition to allowing users to shoot at night, the 370 offers several additional scene modes including Easy, Program, Scene, Portrait, Children, Landscape, Close-Up, Sunset, Dawn, Backlight, Fireworks, Beach and Snow. The Digimax 370 features also a customizable "My Set" option, which allows the user to customize the camera's multitude of settings to meet their individual preferences or needs.

A 5.8mm - 17.4mm f/2.8-4.8 lens (equivalent to 38mm-114mm in 35mm film format) gives the photo enthusiast a high quality picture in any situation. Its built in 4x digital zoom further extends the lens' capabilities, allowing photographers to zoom in tight on a subject from considerable distance. The 370 also includes a macro mode that focuses as close as 5cm, something few cameras in the class can boast.

Another of the 370's innovative creative features is Samsung's Creative RGB Color Effect mode. This unique feature allows users to adjust and customize the levels of red, green and blue in all of the images stored on the camera. In essence, the RGB function allows users to create multiple versions of a single image, all with different levels of depth, tonality and richness. The new Samsung models will be showcased at the PMA show in Las Vegas.
