Julia was selected by the Faculty of Economics and Business for achieving the highest average marks in the Marketing major units of study in the Marketing Honours program. The Canon Honours Scholarship fund was established in 2003, and consists of a donation of $100,000 from Canon Australia to the University of Sydney to create a continuing annual scholarship of $5,000. The total of $5,000 is paid to the student in two equal instalments at the beginning of each semester. "Canon values education and is delighted to continue to support and invest in tomorrow's marketers through this scholarship. We selected the University of Sydney based on its reputation for academic excellence and its results-focused approach to modern learning, particularly in business-related studies," said Mr Shuichi Tsukahara, Managing Director of Canon Australia.

Canon Australia - Fundamental business succes
"At Canon, we believe that marketing is one of the fundamentals to business success. It has certainly played a key role in Canon becoming a market leader in digital imaging products in Australia. We are keen to foster quality marketing talent in the Australian marketplace at the highest level, and the continuing scholarship will allow us to contribute on an ongoing basis," added Mr Tsukahara.

Professor Wolnizer about international Business
"The University congratulates Julia McIlwaine on earning the 2006 Canon Honours Scholarship," said Professor Wolnizer, Dean of the Faulty of Economics and Business. "Canon's scholarship support recognises the importance of quality learning in the business world. Our Faculty is built on an excellence in teaching, learning and research that is not only intellectually rigorous but relevant to careers in the business-related professions." "I was really excited when I found out I'd won the scholarship; I've worked hard this year and it's wonderful to be rewarded for all the hard work I've put in," said Julia. "I'm now working on my Honours thesis and focusing on entrepreneurial activity in International Business. I really appreciate Canon rewarding me and other fellow students; it's wonderful to be acknowledged for our dedication."
