XeroxXerox Documate 632 scanner : The Xerox DocuMate 632, announced today at Transform ‘06, is a new duplex flatbed scanner that was designed specifically for departmental use and incorporates Visioneer OneTouch technology for eliminating multiple steps in sending scanned documents to predetermined applications or devices. It is the only scanner that can be programmed to automatically scan to 99 different destinations and be customized for each person in the department. The Xerox DocuMate 632 has an 8.5” x 14.5” flatbed that can accommodate documents up to legal size. It scans 70 images per minute for double-sided documents and the included Scan-to-PDF software bundle allows users to automatically scan to image-over-text searchable PDF.

Visioneer is a platinum sponsor of Transform ‘06, the annual Kofax Conference that brings the people who use and deliver Kofax solutions together with Kofax personnel to network, exchange ideas, and dig deeper into the products and solutions that collect, transform, and deliver information throughout an organization. The event is at the Laguna Cliffs Marriott Hotel & Spa in Dana Point, Calif., this week. “Government regulatory compliance requirements such as Sarbanes-Oxley are driving the need for easy-to-use, high-speed scanning at the desktop and departmental level,” said Don McMahan, executive vice president of sales and marketing for Visioneer.

Xerox Documate 632 scanner - High speed departmental scanner
“The Xerox DocuMate 632 is the first high-speed departmental scanner that incorporates OneTouch scanning. Any person in the department can scan a stack of documents, convert the images into a searchable PDF file and then e-mail, print or store it with a single touch of a button. Visioneer’s advanced drivers provide compatibility and connectivity to enterprise capture and content management applications such as Documentum eRoom. And the legal-sized flatbed makes this scanner particularly attractive for the government, real-estate and legal markets.”

Xerox 632 - OneTouch
“We have enjoyed selling Xerox DocuMate workgroup scanners in environments where ease of use is a primary concern and are eager to demonstrate the versatility of the new DocuMate 632 to our customers,” says Jim Pappas, CEO of ECS Imaging, a top reseller of Laserfiche document imaging systems. “With the DocuMate 632, we can help a customer preprogram scanner settings for their entire department by assigning specific OneTouch destinations to each person. So, John can have numbers 1-9 set to process his scanned images, Debbi has numbers 10-19 for her images, etc. By pre-setting the scanners, limited training is needed for the end-users since the scanning workflow process will be launched by the touch of a button.”

Xerox DocuMate 632 Scanner - USB interface
The Xerox DocuMate 632 processes 35ppm/70ipm at 200 dpi monochrome and grayscale. It offers an optical resolution of 600 x 1200 dpi, 48-bit internal color, a hi-speed USB 2.0 interface (USB 1.1 compatible), and a suite of bundled software applications and utilities. These include TWAIN and ISIS certified drivers, Kofax VRS software, ScanSoft PaperPort Professional, and ScanSoft OmniPage Pro. The 100-page capacity automatic document feeder can handle paper and photos from business cards up to legal-sized documents.

Xerox Documate 632 - Low-cost conversion
Searchable PDF maintains the visual integrity of the original document, with the text portions of the image converted via OCR for search purposes and stored in a separate layer. This allows for low-cost conversion from paper to PDF, while permitting easy distribution and ability to search, link, select/copy and index the text. ScanSoft’s PaperPort 10 Professional enables PDF files to be created from any Microsoft Windows application, without the need for additional PDF creation, editing or viewing software. ScanSoft’s OmniPage Pro is a powerful optical character recognition productivity tool that delivers accurate and precise document conversion.

Xerox Documate 632 - VirtualReScan software
Kofax’s award-winning VirtualReScan software improves image quality and increases overall efficiency of the scanning process for document management applications. Registered users can download ISIS drivers and VRS 4.0 at no additional charge on-line at the visioneer Werbsite or may request a CD for a small shipping and handling fee as soon as it is available. The Xerox DocuMate 632 includes an ISIS driver certified by Pixel Translations and an advanced TWAIN driver developed by JFL Peripheral Solutions to ensure that the scanner will function properly with the more than 250 commercially available ISIS-compatible applications and communicate effectively with enterprise content management and document image management software solutions with the press of a single button.
