The Pentax Optio 30 is designed to be very easy in control; just turn the power on and press the shutter release. The innovative virtual mode dial is a new feature that lets the user select a suitable icon on the screen in response to which the Optio 30 automatically sets the optimal setting for a wide range of different subjects and circumstances. Beside the regular features like Portrait, Self-portrait, Sunset, Landscape, Surf and Snow the Optio 30 also features Party, Food and Pet modes too.
The Optio 30 offers a 3x optical zoom with a focal range of 38-114mm (compared with 35mm format). It can be combined with a 4x digital zoom to realize a total zooming of 12x. The Macro mode allows shots to be composed from as close as just 2cm from the subject.
The virtual mode dial let the user select several features like: Program, Landscape Mode, Night Scene mode, Night Scene Portrait mode, Portrait Mode, Surf and Snow, Flower, Party, Food, Pet, Movie and Panorama Assist.
A key digital benefit of the Optio30 is the ability to apply filters to shots after they’ve already been taken. There’s a choice of 9 different filters, comprising black and white, sepia, red, pink, purple, blue, green, yellow, and brightness. The Optio30 supports PictBridge, a new direct-print standard released by the CIPA (Camera and Imaging Products Association). Just connect the Optio30 via USB to a printer supporting PictBridge to make printouts of recorded images without the need for a PC and utilize other handy direct functions such as resizing, trimming, and digital filters.
Other features of the Pentax Optio 30 are: Histogram, Spot AF or 5-point AF, Multi Continuous shooting (4 in one frame), metering options (spot, centre, multi-segment), settings for sharpness, saturation and contrast and a built-in 16MB memory. The images and movies are captured on a Secure Digital card. |
