A unique mix of features, functionality, and low acoustic noise give the Fujitsu fi-5900C characteristics that make it suitable for production scanning in both the front and back-office. The Fujitsu fi-5900C is also the first Fujitsu scanner to come equipped with three state of the art ultrasonic double feed detection sensors, which helps prevent lost images due to misfeeds enabling larger batches of mixed document types to be scanned quickly, reliably, and automatically. It also utilizes an intelligent, self centering, active stacking tray to keep documents straight while preventing curling in the exit hopper, enhancing overall productivity via pre and post document preparation.
Document management systems
"With ever increasing regulatory compliance standards, many vertical markets including banking, finance, real estate, legal, government and insurance are implementing advanced document management systems," said Tim Hobbs, chief executive officer, Data Connect. "Many of these companies are mid-sized business that still require affordable and easy to operate hardware. The Fujitsu fi-5900C is a perfect solution to help those customers become more compliant and efficient. We're very excited about offering this scanner to the market."
Document scanning optical resolution
The scanner captures images at an impressive document scanning optical resolution as high as 600 dots per inch (dpi) for outstanding forms processing and to perform optical character resolution (OCR) and intelligent character resolution (ICR) functions at the highest quality. The Fujitsu fi-5900C is also engineered specifically to run at full rated speed at resolutions up to 300 dpi enabling scanning of 240 color images in one minute.

To avoid scanner downtime, the Fujitsu fi-5900C also offers easy to change consumables and a preventative alarm. Additionally, customers that purchase the fi-5900C before June 30, 2006 will receive one free year of Fujitsu ScanCare service, a $4,495 value. See the Fujitsu Service section below for more details.

"For the past several years the document management industry has been experiencing a rapid functionality migration from what was once considered high-end scanning into the workgroup and mid-range segments," said Victor Kan, vice president sales and marketing, Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc. "The launch of the fi-5900C is a natural extension of this trend. Fujitsu has taken state of the art, best in class technology and made it available at a low-volume production price point."
