Under the agreement, Kodak will bundle ScanSoft OmniPage and PaperPort with the new Kodak i1210 and i1220 series scanners for workgroups and the new Kodak i1310 and i1320 series scanners for the departmental segment. The integration of OmniPage with the Kodak scanners results in a complete document capture solution, providing automated scan-to-searchable PDF, scan-to-desktop, scan-to-archive and scan-to-Microsoft Word capabilities. In addition, PaperPort provides Kodak scanner users with an integrated document management solution for organizing scanned documents, photographs, and existing documents in over 100 formats.

Kodak document imaging solutions
"Customers rely on Kodak to deliver document imaging solutions to help them gain benefits in productivity, efficiency and flexibility," said Paul Whittard, Worldwide Portfolio Business Manager, Document Imaging, Graphic Communications Group, Eastman Kodak Company. "Critical to attaining these benefits is outstanding ease of use. We selected Nuance as our software partner on these new desktop scanners because its products provide an ease of use that compliments our solutions."

OmniPage OCR solution

For document capture and archive, OmniPage delivers capabilities that everyone can use, including batch processing, automatic image enhancement, OCR indexing and export to a wide range of content management applications and document formats, including searchable PDF and TIF. For scanned and PDF document conversion, OmniPage has not only the most accurate recognition available, it also is the best at reproducing the formatting of the original document, including columns, tables, spreadsheets, graphics - and even wrapped clipart. OmniPage also has the most complete export capabilities available, including Microsoft Office, Corel WordPerfect, XML, Open eBook and audio book formats. OmniPage is consistently assessed by industry experts as the best OCR and document conversion application, and is the only such product to win "Editor's Choice" awards from PC Magazine & C|Net.

Scanner Enhancement Technology
PaperPort is used by millions - at organizations of every size - to implement scanning and document management that everyone can use. PaperPort makes scanning as easy as making a copy, accomplishing this by combining the ease of One-Button Scanning, integration with OmniPage OCR and the convenience of All-in-One Search into an easy to use desktop application. PaperPort also includes robust support for PDF, including complete viewing, printing, document assembly and annotation capabilities. PaperPort's professional document capture capabilities go even further, providing Scanner Enhancement Technology (SET) tools that make image correction and annotation as easy as point & click. PaperPort has gained industry respect for the unique way it allows customers to organize, find and share documents, including winning "Product of the Year" and repeated "Editors' Choice" awards from PC Magazine, and being named one of the "Hottest 50 Products" by Smart Computing.
