Nikon Coolpix L2 review at Photoxels : DIWA member Yin Wong from Photoxels has reviewed the Nikon Coolpix L2 digital camera. The Nikon Coolpix L2 camera boasts a powerful 3x Zoom-Nikkor lens with a focal range equivalent to that of a 38-116mm (35mm equivalent), a bright 2.0 inch LCD screen with in-camera image-improvement features and is housed in a compact body. The CCD delivers a high 6 Megapixel resolution. A choice of 15 different Scene modes, four with Scene assist, makes the challenge of achieving desired results in a wide range of everyday situations that much simpler. The Nikon L2 digital compact camera is compatible with widely available Secure Digital memory cards and has an internal memory of 32MB.

Nikon Coolpix L2 - Macro and Focus
According to Yin Wong: "We find the overall image quality of the Nikon L2 to be good to very good. Multi-Pattern metering is precise and images have good detail and reproduce with pleasant colours. The Nikon L2 lacks low-light capabilities and is recommended for well-lit outdoors shots. The Nikon L2 lens allows you to focus as close as 10cm (3.9 in.) at wide-angle. I find the macro performance on the L2 not quite up to par to Nikon's excellent macro capability we've come to expect: it does not focus as close and it can sometimes be quite difficult to obtain focus lock."
Nikon Coolpix L2 digital camera- Body and Handling
Yin Wong continues: "The Nikon L2 won't win any design award but is attractive in its own minimalist way. The body is dark grey and a raised battery compartment acts as a handgrip [use of the wrist strap is highly recommended]. When retracted, the lens is flush with the body. The lens is off from the center of the lens barrel and gives it a slightly off-kilter appearance. Start-up is about 2-3 sec. Shutter lag is quite noticeable at around 1-2 sec. (dependent on AF). If you pre-focus, shutter lag is practically negligible. We have some concern that the targeted audience may not particularly know how to pre-focus and will therefore be disappointed with the shutter lag performance." About Photoxels
Photoxels was founded in 2002 by MyKhanh Wong (Owner, Editor) and Yin Wong (Contributing Editor), the editors behind Photoxels. In 2001, we went on the Web to learn about digital cameras like everyone else. But it seems that the more we read about digital cameras, the more reviews we scrutinized, and the more we searched... the more confused we became. If we were somewhat confused about which digital cameras to buy before visiting the digital camera review sites, we became even more confused after reading most of the (very) technical reviews. Slowly, one article and one review at a time, we pieced together what were really important to know about digital cameras and clarified many of the digital photography-related terminology. We decided to share what we learned on the Internet, and Photoxels was born.
