DigiCamReview.co.ukPentax Optio E10 review at DigiCamReview : Our friend Joshua Waller from DigiCamReview has published his Pentax Optio E10 digital camera review. The Pentax E10 is delivered with a 1/2.5-inch CCD with 6.36 total Megapixels. The Pentax Optio E10 comes with a 3x optical zoom lens equivalent to a 34-102mm lens in 35mm format. When the optical zoom is paired with the digital zoom function (1 - 4X), the camera can attain up to 12x effective zoom magnification. The Pentax Optio E10 manages to fit in a large, 2.4-inch LCD monitor despite its compact body dimensions. Not only does the monitor’s size make it easier to compose and play back images, it also permits easier operation and setup thanks to its larger, easier-to-read menu display.

According to Joshua Waller: "The camera is very easy to use, especially in the Program, Simple (S) mode and scene modes. The controls on the back of the camera are quite straightforward - the menus are responsive and easy to read and navigate, and the options are big enough and easy enough to see clearly. The modes are easy to access, quick and simple, mainly thanks to the mode dial which makes it easier to use. The shooting modes (such as continuous shooting) are accessed using the self-timer button - once found it was easy to access."

Pentax E10 compact camera - Image quality
Joshua continues: "Image quality is slightly below average, the images have poor colour with low saturation, and generally poor colour accuracy. Detail is average, and images are slightly soft. Images are noisy inside and outside on bright sunny days. Purple fringing was fairly low, as was red-eye. There was some softness in the corners of images."

Pentax Optio E10 digital camera - LCD and Ergonomics
"The camera is quite compact for a budget digital camera and it is fairly pocketable. The camera has an average / poor 2.4" screen, with a fairly low resolution. There is no optical viewfinder. The camera feels well built, and is fairly comfortable to hold. The camera is easy to use, the menu system is easy to use and there is a good layout of buttons and controls - there is even a simple mode for beginners - although there could be more scene modes," concludes Joshua Waller.
