MaerskPhoto contest by Maersk Line : Maersk Line vision is to create opportunities in global commerce, and, without the container, our business would look quite different. The box has been a significant catalyst in enabling global commerce on a vast scale. We are inviting you to enter our competition and send us a picture of a container or your interpretation of creating opportunities in global commerce. All photos within the competition boundaries are very welcome. Please send your entries by midnight on Sunday, 28 May 2006 GMT. Results will be announced on Wednesday, 31 May 2006. The photo competition is not open to A.P. Moller - Maersk A/S employees.The photo must be taken by you and not originate from any other source.

Digital manipulation or drawings are not permitted. Entrants must be 18 years of age or older. By participating in the competition, you are giving your consent for Maersk Line to use the photo internally and externally in print and digital form. First prize is a digital camera, worth approximately USD 3,500. Second and third prizes are digital cameras, worth approximately USD 1,500 each. All entries in compliance with the rules are encouraged and are most welcome. Photos must be submitted no later than midnight on Sunday, 28 May 2006. Entrants must be 18 years old or older.

Our visual identity is recognisable and distinctive. Great visual identities have an inherent strength that allows the identity to be still identifiable even if the logo is covered up. Each element, not just the logo, denotes Maersk Line or Maersk Logistics - especially our pictures, which are both unique and of the high quality that our company is known for. We have commissioned the world-renowned Magnum Photographic Agency to bring our vision statement, ‘Creating opportunities in global commerce’, to life. The company is usually commissioned by National Geographic for photographic projects, and their high-quality pictures are well-known. Magnum Photographic Agency developed a series of 150 photographs representing our people, our customers’ worlds, our hardware and our global scope.

Maersk photography - Blue wash
We have decided to re-produce the images in black and white with a blue wash. Black and white photography represents the most honest, truthful type of photography. It is very real, being journalistic by nature, and it also has a sense of integrity and style. The blue wash makes it identifiable as Maersk photography. It is distinctive and different in our business sector and we want to be recognised by this own, distinct photographic style in the same way as we are recognised by the Maersk star and the Maersk blue colour.
