Finally we know more about the upcoming Nikon D70 camera. We have had the opportunity to get a first glimpse of this new DSLR and got an immediate positive feeling about the body. Compared with the entry-level DSLR of Nikon's competitor Canon EOS 300D we now feel a far more solid and well designed body, more like you used to feel when handling a Nikon F100 SLR camera. Confronted with the specifications we personally believe the D70 to be an upgraded D100 with an EOS 300D price tag. The uses of technical innovations first found in the D2H are now getting their debut in a very cost-friendly body! The sample we have seen today is a pre-production sample so we can't really reach conclusions yet about image quality, etc.

But we found this new Nikon DSLR interesting enough to spend some hard working hours on a First Look, so we are able to share some more information with you.
"A feeling of high quality dominates when we take the camera into our hands. Nikon has not been tempted to make concessions to the quality of the housing.", When using the D70 in combination with a fast CompactFlash memory card, it's possible to make an impressive large series of images one after the other!" and "The beginning photographer will certainly appreciate the present object settings on the command dial on top of the camera"
