NikonThe present top model amongst the digital Coolpix compact cameras is getting a bigger brother. The new Coolpix 8700 is a fully-fledged digital camera with a high resolution of 8 Megapixels which means a jump from 5 to 8million pixels. The compact housing of the new Coolpix 8700 is in fact equal to the housing of the last model, the Coolpix 5700. The Coolpix 8700 is equipped with a top class zoom lens which offers a zoom range of 8x. The new top model is aimed at the consumers with a broad knowledge of photography, and who are not satisfied with what the present generation digital compact cameras offer. The image resolution of 8 Megapixels offers more than sufficient material to try out different creative processes.
Nikon introduces the Coolpix 8700 cameraIn combination with the 8x zoom lens with a range of 35-280mm (compared to a 35mm camera) we can speak of a versatile full digital camera. Using two lens elements of ED-glass (Extra-low Dispersion) the chromatic aberration is kept to a minimum and the more optimised Optical Low-Pass Filter helps reaching optical top performances. The camera is also characterised by its short start-up time, quick storage of recorded data, a minimum of interval of release and a newly designed AF-illuminator assistant for fast automatic exposure under low light conditions.

The camera offers the four PSAM exposure methods plus an Auto setting in which everything is controlled automatically. With 12 scene settings the user can expect excellent results under uncommon circumstances without needing special knowledge or special settings. The camera itself chooses the setting to get an optimum image of the object.

Further more the Coolpix 8700 offers many special digital functions like BSS (Best Shot Selector), AE-BSS (Auto Exposure - Best Shot Selector), noise reduction, adjustable colour saturation and white balance bracketing. The 5-image buffer also enables capturing the most striking, unexpected moments. Movies with sound and interval images are interesting additions. The variable rotating LCD monitor, which also performs perfectly in broad daylight, the improved electronic view finder and the compact light magnesium body make the camera versatile, light and strong at the same time.

We will pay more attention to this new Nikon digital camera soon. The PMA show in Las Vegas will probably be the place to pay more attention to the new Nikon products so keep in touch with our website, because LetsGoDigital will be publishing a life coverage from the showfloor in Las Vegas!
