WacomWacom Europe wins ISPA and Innovation Award 2006 : For the first time ever, Wacom Europe has entered the ISPA & Innovation Awards 2006 with its PenPartner2 pen tablet and has won a Runner-up Special Mention (Second Place) in the category “Computer Accessories and Supplies”. The ISPA is the International Stationery Press Association of 26 member magazines. Each year during the Paperworld Exhibition, ISPA awards products in the area of paper, office and school articles. This year, 75 products from 15 countries were entered for the award. Wacom’s PenPartner2 has been specifically designed for use with laptops and provides a comfortable input solution that enables users to add handwritten annotations to Microsoft office documents.

Notebook users can now work more comfortably than when using an integrated device such as a touchpad or trackpoint. The pen has shown to be the most intuitive input device as is very natural to handle. With Wacom’s absolute positioning, the pen is accurate and allows the user to navigate with short and precise movements. The intuitive handling of the pen is one of the reasons that the ISPA-jury awarded the prize to Wacom. Office workers are accustomed to using a ‘normal’, analogue pen, so the jury was convinced by Wacom’s digital version. As it works without cables and batteries, the Wacom pen is as close to using a normal pen as possible. PenPartner2 is PC compatible and runs on Windows 98SE, ME, 2000 or XP. It comes with JustWrite Office software, which in combination with a pen input device, allows handwritten notes and signatures to be added directly to every Word, Excel and PowerPoint document. The product is priced at £34.99 and available at retail shops including PC World.

About Wacom Company
Wacom is a global company with its parent company, Wacom Company Ltd, based in Japan and subsidiaries in Europe (Wacom Europe GmbH) and Northern America (Wacom Technology Corporation) among others. Founded in 1983, Wacom has established itself as the market leader for pen tablets and is a pioneer in the development of the pen as an input device for computers. The company’s aim is to make working with the computer more ergonomic and natural, therefore making it easier to open a broader field of applications. The ethos behind this vision is to create the most harmonious environment possible for the user and his technical equipment.

About Wacom products in Europe
In Europe, Wacom supplies five product lines under its own brand name: PenPartner, Volito, Graphire, Intuos and Cintiq. The cord- and battery-less input devices of these products are based on Wacom’s patented electromagnetic resonance technology, called ‘penabled’. For years now ‘Penabled’ technology has proven itself for use in graphics tablets and LCD-tablets. The company also offers its products as OEM business to all manufacturers of PCs and Macintosh computers. Wacom is the leader in the field of pen and sensor technology - most Tablet PCs based on Microsoft work using this technology. In the future, ‘Penabled’ technology will play a leading role in the development of mobile devices such as smart phones and PDAs.
