Lexar announced JumpDrive Traveler, a new USB 2.0 flash drive that enables Internet browsing from Internet connected computers without leaving history or session information on the host computer. About the size of a pack of chewing gum, JumpDrive Traveler allows users to access email, bookmarks and other personalized Web settings from PC computers. Additionally, the software provides file synchronization to quickly and easily update files from the USB flash drive to the computer. To enable private and secure Internet browsing, JumpDrive Traveler stores Internet activities, such as URL histories and cookies, onto the USB flash drive, and securely erases them from the hard drive of the host computer when the user exits the program.

JumpDrive Traveler's software does not require any installation or additional set up on host computers. To enable private and secure Internet browsing, JumpDrive Traveler stores Internet activities, such as URL histories and cookies, onto the USB flash drive, and securely erases them from the hard drive of the host computer when the user exits the program. To provide personalized Web browsing, JumpDrive Traveler remembers the users' personalized Web settings including bookmarks, site history and temporary files, and makes them accessible from other computers.
With JumpDrive Traveler, users can send, receive and manage their email from any compatible Internet connected computer. Email on a mobile USB storage device provides a quick and convenient way to access work or personal email and represents a significant advancement in mobile email solutions. For mobile email access, JumpDrive Traveler supports Outlook Express 5.5 and later. In the future, the software will support additional email programs.
JumpDrive Traveler features file synchronization to assist users who frequently work from more than one computer and need to have the most current documents readily available. Through the synchronization program, users build profiles of the folders or files to be synchronized and they are updated with the click of a button when JumpDrive Traveler is inserted into the USB port of the users’ primary computer.
"JumpDrive Traveler takes portable USB storage to the next level by facilitating the most popular activities on personal computers, including email, Internet browsing and document production even when using someone else’s computer," said Dave Klenske, Lexar Media, Director of Product Marketing. "Because JumpDrive Traveler makes bookmarks, passwords and email available, even from a public computer, it is poised to become the preferred USB flash drive for anyone who accesses the Internet remotely. In addition, anyone who works regularly from more than one computer and needs updated files, or appreciates keeping their Internet history private will benefit from JumpDrive Traveler."
For an effortless customer experience, the software on JumpDrive Traveler is launched either automatically or with the click of an icon when the drive is inserted into a USB port. To enable a private and portable Internet experience, JumpDrive Traveler supports Internet Explorer 5.5 and later. JumpDrive Traveler will be available in late January in 128MB and 256MB capacities, a 512MB JumpDrive Traveler will ship in February. |
