PhotokinaLifestyle media at Photokina 2006 : At Photokina 2006 - the leading trade fair for the worldwide imaging sector held in Cologne from September 26 to October 1, 2006 - Koelnmesse will be offering “lifestyle media”, a presentation platform where manufacturers and dealers of digital solutions for image communication in the home and providers of services for AV system solutions will be able to inform customers about lifestyle media products’ wide range of possibilities. Exhibitors and visitors will be offered an activity area for presenting solutions that combines information, communication and entertainment technologies. In addition to information on practical benefits and demonstrations of complete system solutions and applications.

The main attraction of lifestyle media at Photokina is that visitors will be able to see how easy it is to carry out a professional-grade implementation and learn which professional service providers can help with the realization. This new platform will be located in Photokina’s Audiovisual Presentation and Communication Technology section in the new Hall 9. At the heart of “lifestyle media” will be a presentation area that realistically depicts everyday living spaces while incorporating lifestyle-oriented technologies designed to meet the needs of today’s consumers. This will allow visitors to experience at first hand the integration of modern information, communication and entertainment technologies into various “living spaces” - from the entrance area and kitchen to the study and living room to the children’s room and bedroom - and learn about their technical implementation.

The “lifestyle media at Photokina” concept goes a step further, with information islands arranged by post code positioned around the activity platform. At these islands, AV dealers, electronics installation specialists, architects, electricians and other sector specialists will be able to present their services to visitors. The advantage of combining this presentation area with the chance to gain first-hand advice from experienced service providers is obvious: In a realistic home-like environment at the central presentation platform, all participating service providers can demonstrate the widest imaginable spectrum of systems for visitors and provide them with clear, detailed advice. Visitors who are interested in the systems on show will have the chance to talk to experts from their own regions, who will explain how consumers can use the technologies in their own homes.

Last but not least, companies will be able to present their systems and products in a realistic setting while allowing visitors to gain an in-depth insight into the complex technology. This makes it possible for companies that until now have concentrated on professional users to win over new target groups with strong purchasing power. What’s more, this attractive form of experience-oriented presentation will help consumers to overcome their doubts about being able to cope with “complicated” technology - a factor that often puts an end to potential purchases. All these facets of lifestyle media will be presented at Photokina in Cologne from September 26 to October 1, 2006.
