PQIPQI Corporation, a leading manufacturer of digital media solutions, announced the release of the 512MB Intelligent Stick™ 2.0, the latest version of its pioneering ultra-small USB flash memory product. Offering a maximum sustained data transfer rate of 7MB per second - as much as five times faster than the 1.1 version - Intelligent Stick 2.0 satisfies the need for pocket-sized, portable flash data storage in capacities currently as high as 512MB, with up to 1GB planned by year’s end. The new Intelligent Stick 2.0 joins PQI’s original, competitively-priced product, Intelligent Stick 1.1, as the smallest and lightest USB flash media devices on the market today.
PQI Corporation Unveils 512MB Intelligent Stick IIEqual in size and weight to two pennies laid end-to-end, Intelligent Stick 2.0 and 1.1 both bring greater convenience and utility to portable storage than ever before. “PQI’s Intelligent Stick is an amazingly versatile device that adds value to a wide range of computing and digital devices,” said Louis Grijalva, Product Manager at PQI Corporation. “This device, the size of half a stick of chewing gum, can transfer files and data between desktop PCs and laptops - and very soon PDAs, MP3 players, and digital still cameras as well - all without the need for a USB reader or other adapter.”

Intelligent Stick 2.0 and 1.1 are USB plug-and-play compatible and require minimal steps to set-up and use. The two products are available in memory capacities of 64, 128, 256, and 512MB; version 1.1 comes in a 32MB capacity as well. All varieties feature solid-state memory storage for stability and high dependability after repeated use. Intelligent Stick 2.0 includes an e-mail feature that enables users to access their e-mail accounts simply by inserting the Intelligent Stick into the USB port of any computer connected to the Internet. With the e-mail feature, accounts can be viewed at leisure, and access is as easy as any other e-mail client application. Adding to the products’ value is an onboard LED status indicator which shows when the Intelligent Stick is being accessed. Password protection is possible by downloading a free utility from the PQI Corporation website. Intelligent Stick is compatible with all popular operating systems including Windows ME/2000/XP, Mac OS 9.0 or higher, and Linux Kernel 2.4.0. A free driver supporting Windows 98 and 98SE can be downloaded at PQI Corporation’s website.

Convenient Accessories - Among the wide range of accessories offered for the Intelligent Stick product line are a durable USB adapter with a convenient clip that affixes to a shirt pocket, and an extension cable for easy connection back-of-unit USB ports. A credit-card-sized carrying caddy also provides durable protection in wallets, backpacks, briefcases, and purses.
