CanonCanon opens Professional Print Competence Centre : Canon Europe, world leader in digital imaging technology, today announced the opening of its first Professional Print Competence Centre (PPCC) in Europe. Based in Mönchengladbach, Germany, the centre is a satellite support operation of the European Competence Centre based in Reigate in the UK, and has been built to support Canon’s growing number of professional print customers within Europe. The PPCC’s key functions will be to: act as a dedicated engineer training facility for Canon’s highly respected engineer network, provide telephone and remote diagnostic support and act as a test-bed for professional equipment prior to customer installation.

To ensure that over 2,000 Canon engineers continue to deliver the highest level of service in the industry, the PPCC will provide regular on-site training programs for its increasing professional print product portfolio. The portfolio includes all production colour and black & white printers, the latest imagePRESS digital colour press, workflow & software solutions and finishing equipment. In order to ensure it is delivering on its complete solutions promise, the PPCC will also be in direct contact with Canon’s hardware and solutions partners, such as GretagMacbeth, PlanetPress and EFI. This will ensure that engineers can offer expert specialised support on the whole professional solutions offering from Canon to all their customers.

Canon PPCC - Professional print market
Keith McCaw, Head of the European Competence Network, Canon Europe, says: “Canon has recruited some of the most talented professional print executives within Europe, and the introduction of the PPCC will ensure that they are trained to the highest standard. This is yet another demonstration of Canon’s commitment to the professional print market and our understanding of our customer’s needs for first class technical service and industry leading products. With Canon, they will be able to receive the best productivity and ROI within the industry.”

Professional Print Competence Centre
In addition to on-site training, the PPCC will also offer technical telephone support throughout Europe and will also have the capability for remote access to production printers for diagnostic support. This service will ensure that all Canon’s professional print customers are subject to minimal downtime and printers are fixed as quickly as possible therefore ensuring customer productivity is not affected. The PPCC can also offer pre-delivery installation so that all product configurations can be thoroughly tested prior to delivery to the customer. This service ensures that the customer gains the benefit of shorter installation times and therefore faster availability of the product for their business.
