CanonCanon imagePROGRAF iPF9000 large format printer : Canon Europe, world leader in digital imaging technology, has today launched its first 60” large format printer, the imagePROGRAF iPF9000. Aimed primarily at the print-for-pay sector, including copy shops and professional print businesses, this new flagship device delivers best-in-class image quality at high speed, and incorporates a range of industry-leading technologies, including Canon’s new 12-colour pigment ink system. The imagePROGRAF iPF9000 is a major addition to Canon’s portfolio of large format printers, which now runs from 17” all the way up to 60”. The imagePROGRAF iPF9000 will be available throughout Europe from June, 2006.

Additionally, a 12-colour pigment ink system not only improves print quality but also media compatibility and colour range. This means that the imagePROGRAF iPF9000 now offers the widest colour gamut in its class, and provides accurate colour reproduction on a variety of media - yet another example of Canon’s commitment to the large format printer market.

Canon large format - Twin print head
Utilising new, unique technology that induces productivity and accurate, high-quality output, the imagePROGRAF iPF9000 combines an industry-first, high-density twin print head utilising FINE (Full Photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering) technology. Furthermore, a new high-speed controller, coupled with functions that automatically detect corresponding media and ink, results in increased output speed that does not compromise quality.

Canon imagePROGRAF iPF9000 - FINE technology
A key feature of the imagePROGRAF iPF9000 is the twin, high-density print head. It not only enhances printing speed, but also the durability of the device as it crams over 30,000 nozzles into two 1” print heads. Moreover, by incorporating FINE technology, 4-pl (picolitre) ink droplets ensure delicate colour gradation, high-definition expression and accuracy. The broad colour gamut is realised with the addition of red, green and blue inks, as well as two varieties of grey - photo grey and grey - that enables smooth colour gradation whilst realising a neutral and constant monochrome. In addition, the use of two types of black ink - photo black and matte black - guarantees extended media compatibility.

Canon large format printers portfolio
“The launch of the imagePROGRAF iPF9000 proves our commitment to the market. Canon has grown 45% year on year within the LFP space and has used new products to fuel our evolution. With a target market share of 20%, to achieve by the end of 2006, the new large format portfolio that the imagePROGRAF iPF9000 heads-up is exceptionally significant. These printers unite market-leading technology and speed to produce best-in-class output and combined with Canon’s European strategy to provide customers with a real purchase option it really does have to be seen to be believed,” commented Paul Hinkins, LFP European Product Marketing Manager, Canon Europe.

The imagePROGRAF iPF9000 comes with Canon’s PosterArtist and Digital Photo Print Professional as standard, as well as print plug-ins for Adobe Photoshop and Canon’s own Digital Photo Professional software, which is supplied with its EOS range of cameras. It can be configured to an existing network and has been designed to ensure ease-of-use and effective print management.
