Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1 preview : Just before the start of the PMA 2006 in Orlando, Panasonic introduced a new model of its Lumix series. The new Panasonic Lumix DMC TZ1, of which we will give you a more in-depth preview, is the world's most compact digital camera incorporating a 10x optical zoom lens. The body is compact and it is nothing short of amazing that Panasonic has succeeded in integrating such a large optical zoom into such a compact camera. In addition, Panasonic has incorporated its Mega O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer), which enables you to use it in the field without carrying a tripod with you. Without this, just forget about taking pictures with a telezoom,; the result would only be blurry images.

Panasonic Lumix TZ1 - Venus Engine III
With even the slightest hand-shake can spoil the captured image. However, Mega O.I.S. helps you to take clear, beautiful pictures without any picture quality deterioration. An additional boost to the Panasonic TZ1’s performance is the newly developed image processing LSI, the Venus Engine III, which detects both chromatic and luminance noise separately and suppresses only the chromatic noise levels, which drastically reduce image quality, as a result, shooting at ISO 800 in full resolution is made possible.
Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1 - LCD Display
The five megapixel Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1 digital camera has an intuitively bright 2.5” large, high resolution (207k pixels) LCD which offers clear and easy viewing, even in low-light situations, by automatically increasing the brightness levels as appropriate. The camera has a very user-friendly way of operating. The menu is fast to navigate and straightforward. The housing has a solid feel to it and the design is both stylish and classic at the same time.
Panasonic DMC TZ1 - Multi-purpose digital camera
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1 is quite literally a “multi-purpose” camera, ready to shoot in a wide and diverse array of photographic situations, with its powerful 10x optical zoom and dual image stabilization system of Mega O.I.S. and high sensitivity. With its supremely compact size, it offers maximum portability as your perfect travel companion for you to keep and cherish those precious memories.

So, what do we have here? Just an ordinary digital camera or a camera that is simply one of a kind? Although the TZ1 camera we have had in our office was a pre-production model and should therefore not be judged as a final production camera, the following preview will give you an inside look and feel of what you may expect of the new Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1.
