 eMagin patent for virtual imaging communications : eMagin Corporation ,a leader in personal display systems and OLED microdisplay technology, has received notice of allowance from the US Patent and Trademark Office for a portable communication device with a virtual image display. Such a device would deliver large-screen, high-resolution data displayed from a handheld device through a virtual image that only the individual user could see. The patent covers eMagin products such as the Z800 3DVisor & Eyebud 800, and similar devices that would enhance and extend the utility of cell phones, PDAs, and portable or wearable computers. Included in the patent are monocular & binocular systems incorporating earphone speakers & microphones.

 eMagin - Virtual imaging experience
Such virtual imaging devices would employ high-resolution microdisplays and magnifying optics, in combination with earphones and microphone, to deliver a virtual image that appears to be a large display set off at some distance in front of the user's eye. Sound and voice input complete the virtual imaging experience, delivering full personal computing and communications capa-bilities. The award of this patent provides eMagin with additional important intellectual property for portable imaging products with multifunction capabilities.
