Color calibration innovations for professionalsHome theater color technology
The spring event is expected to draw more than 10,000 attendees from around the country looking for the latest industry insights and technology trends. It provides an ideal venue for the latest tools that ensure dynamic color outcomes across displays. “As television digitization turns the living room into an interactive multimedia hub, we have expanded our highly successful line of home theater color technology with installers, technicians and service providers in mind. At EHX 2006, we’re showcasing products that professionals can use to delight customers with marked improvement in their viewing experience on virtually any set, from a standard 36” TV to a high-end LCD display,” Datacolor Home Theater product manager Basak Atilgan says.

Datacolor Colorfacts Professional 6.0
Datacolor ColorFacts Professional 6.0 is an integrated hardware and software bundle designed to calibrate and correct color on plasma, LCD panels, projectors, and wide screen television’s for video images. It ships with the latest Spyder2 colorimeter, provides open support for over a dozen other meters, and has direct integration with popular signal generators. One of the most innovative additions to this product is an all-new way of performing display device calibrations. An integrated software module called ColorFacts C3 delivers feature-rich remote access far beyond raw control of the display as well as direct integration with the ColorFacts application itself, offering calibration functions that operate on the device itself, improving the image from its factory defaults. This powerful new onscreen program is designed for safety as well as it prevents end-users from accessing areas of the display intended for professionals only. The ColorFacts C3 method for optimizing image parameters is recognized by the Imaging Science Foundation (ISF).

SpyderTV - Color calibration for professionals
SpyderTV scientifically measures contrast, brightness, color, tint, and color temperature display presets of any CRT, plasma, RPTV, LCD or DLP display screen and does it the fall of 2005, it hasquickly and easily. Since its EHX debut in more expanded to include seven languages. SpyderTV is available in English, German, and French with Japanese, Chinese, and Korean to follow soon. With little more than a DVD player, laptop and USB port, professional installers or their staff can use award-winning Spyder technology to accurately and easily adjust these menu sliders onsite, without the troubling subjectivity of adjusting by eyesight alone. SpyderTV can be used at regular intervals for quick check-ups that ensure displays are optimally tuned or when new components are added into the system. Device independent and non-invasive, consumers also can use SpyderTV to determine optimal settings without fear of accessing areas of the display intended for professionals only. A wizard-driven software package guides the process every step of the way.

SpyderTV PRO at the Electronic House Expo (EHX) Spring 2006
The latest professional-level tool for optimized TV viewing, SpyderTV PRO, debuts at EHX. As with all products in the Datacolor breakthrough line of color calibration for home theater, SpyderTV PRO scientifically measures and adjusts the display presets of any CRT, plasma, RPTV, LCD or DLP display screen–and does it easily and quickly. SpyderTV PRO has been designed especially for televisions and front projectors that have gray scale controls in the user menu, and delivers a deeper level of diagnostic for professionals. Through the system’s easy-to-run wizard diagnostics, SpyderTV PRO allows the technician to adjust the gray scale for proper color output from the display. It calibrates front projectors, ensuring outstanding color outcome in an industry segment that is growing with the advent of brighter, faster, less expensive projectors. In addition to customized reporting and an easier-than-ever wizard interface, SpyderTV PRO comes with a one-year subscription to an installer assistance forum, moderated by industry experts. “The expectation for picture-perfect viewing is growing right along with the home theater segment. Customer satisfaction with the highest rated LCD can be dimmed by an off color. A key element lost in the shadows can put off even the most enthusiastic gamer. We are in the business of applying our trademark solutions for color excellence as the market evolves,” Atilgan concludes.
