Peter Simone joins Monotype Imaging

 Peter Simone joins Monotype Imaging board of directors : Monotype Imaging, a global provider of font and imaging technologies, has appointed Peter J. Simone to its board of directors. Simone is a technology industry veteran with more than 30 years of experience at the executive and board levels. He will also serve on the company's audit committee. "We're pleased that Pete has decided to join Monotype Imaging's board of directors. He brings an important combination of industry knowledge and financial acumen to our board," said Robert M. Givens, president, chief executive officer of Monotype Imaging. "Pete's experience in running a software company and his financial background as a CPA will be of great value to Monotype Imaging."

Peter Simone, 58, has held various management positions over the course of his career in the high-tech industry, including executive chairman of SpeedFam-IPEC, Inc., a semiconductor equipment manufacturer. He was also president and director of Active Control eXperts, Inc., a supplier of precision motion control and smart structures technology, and he served as president and chief executive officer of Xionics Document Technologies, Inc., a provider of embedded software solutions for printer and copier manufacturers, from 1997 until Xionics merged with Oak Technology Inc. in 2000. Currently, Simone is an independent consultant working within the investment community and with numerous private companies.

Simone serves on the boards of directors for several companies, including Sanmina-SCI Corp, a provider of customized, integrated electronics manufacturing services; Newport Corp, a technology supplier to several industries including microelectronics manufacturing and communications; Veeco Instruments, Inc, an equipment developer and supplier to various industries including data storage and semiconductors; and Cymer, Inc, a supplier of excimer light sources. Simone is also a board member of several private technology companies as well as the Massachusetts High Technology Council. In addition, he is president of the board of Walker Home and School for Children. Simone holds a bachelor's degree from Bentley College and a master's in business administration from Babson College. He began his career as an auditor with Arthur Young & Company (now Ernst & Young).
