JenoptikSome time ago Jenoptik decided to launch their own version of a 8x optical zoom camera. The new Jenoptik 4.1 z8 features a 8x optical zoom lens with a focal length of 36-288mm (equivalent to 35mm camera), and a CCD sensor with a resolution of 4 Megapixels. This camera is an average digital camera but the 8x optical zoom lens is worth mentioning. This focal range allows users to capture subjects in the field like during sport events or animals in nature. The maximum aperture of this large optical zoom lens is f3.2 at wide angle and f4.8 at tele. Those who are looking for more enlargements can use the digital zoom of 2x. The minimum focus distance is 30cm in normal mode and 10cm in macro mode.
Jenoptik launches JD 4.1 z8 camera with 8x zoomThe exposure system is fully automatic, although it is possible to compensate the exposure manually (-/+2EV in 1/3 EV steps). The ISO equivalent is 100, but is adjustable manually (100 or 200 ISO).

The Jenoptik JD 4.1 z8 features three light metering systems; multi pattern, center weighted or spot. Due to the large optical zoom the camera does not feature an optical viewer, but does not feature an electronic viewer either. For capturing images or viewing the captured ones one should use the 1.6-inch LCD display at the back of the camera. The display has a resolution of 70,000 pixels.

The camera's internal flash has a red-eye reduction and features a slow sync mode, fill-in, off and automatic flash mode. Beside being able to capture still images the Jenoptik JD 4.1 z8 is also able to record video clips. The still images are stored in JPEG format on a Secure Digital (SD) flash card.
