Steve's DigicamsNikon P4 at Steves Digicams : Our good friends at Steves Digicams have published their review of the Nikon Coolpix P4 digital camera. The Nikon P4 features a 1/1.8-inch CCD and offers 8.1 effective Megapixels of image resolution. The Nikon Coolpix P4 incorporates a high-quality 3.5x Zoom-Nikkor lens with a focal range of a 36-126mm lens (equiv. 35mm format). The 11 wide-area AF of the Nikon P4 delivers more accurate autofocus by analysing a larger area of the frame so photographers can experiment with more imaginative compositions. The Nikon P4 offers Aperture-priority Auto mode to let photographers benefit from aperture control in 1/3EV steps. There's also a range of Advanced Scene modes (9 Advanced Scene modes.

According to Steve Digicams: "The Nikon P4 features the VR (Vibration Reduction) system originally developed for Nikon SLR cameras. Comprising two modes, it allows selection of VR Normal mode that compensates for the minor camera movement commonly encountered when taking handheld shots, and VR Active mode that compensates for more pronounced movements, such as when shooting from a moving vehicle. Controls on top include the VR button to control the Vibration Reduction."

Nikon P4 camera - Steves Digicams review conclusion
Steve continues: "A lot of people never read their user manuals and don't know the "secret of the sweet spot" - in macro mode run your zoom in and out until you see the macro flower icon turn green (or yellow on some Coolpix cameras). This is the setting that allows you to shoot the closest possible shots. And by all means, use a tripod and the self-timer for the sharpest possible shots. Although the Nikon P4 with this new VR enhancement will definitely help handheld macros like the one above." You want to learn more about the Nikon Coolpix digital camera? In the same way the reviews are being written. According to Steve, it should not be necessary to follow a course in photography to be able to understand a review. For this approach Steve is well known world wide and he is welcome to it by his many readers. Beside test reports Steve's site has various other items, like a forum, camera specifications, daily "breaking" news.
