Steve's DigicamsNikon S5 at Steves Digicams : Our good friends at Steves Digicams have published their review of the Nikon Coolpix S5 digital camera. With the Nikon Coolpix S5, image quality is a top priority: the Nikon S5 offers a 1/2.5-inch CCD and 6.0 effective Megapixel resolution to produce images that stay sharp even when significantly enlarged. The Nikon Coolpix S5 also features a high-quality 3x Zoom-Nikkor ED lens with a range of 35-105mm (35mm equivalent) that gives the photographer the flexibility to zoom out for beautiful landscapes, zoom in for tightly-composed portraits, and enjoy macro photography from as close as 4cm. The Nikon S5 digital camera comes complete with the COOL-STATION MV-14.

According to Steve Digicams: "The Menu button calls up and dismisses menu screens. The 4-way selector is for navigating menus and selecting pictures. In record mode pressing it "Up" selects the desired flash mode. Pressing it "Left" activates the 10-sec selftimer. Pressing it "Down" enables the macro focus mode. The center OK button accepts menu selections and enables Auto Transfer of images. The rotary dial allows for easy selection of recording mode or playback images."

Steve continues: "Connection of the USB 1.1 cable for downloading images to the host computer or the Audio- Video Out cable to a TV set is accomplished on the rear of the Coolstation docking cradle. The video signal is selectable for NTSC or PAL. The USB cable can be connected to any PictBridge compatible photo printer for computer-free printing. In the same way the reviews are being written. According to Steve, it should not be necessary to follow a course in photography to be able to understand a review. For this approach Steve is well known world wide and he is welcome to it by his many readers. Beside test reports Steve's site has various other items, like a forum, camera specifications, daily "breaking" news.
