RicohRicoh Caplio 400G digital camera introduction : Ricoh Corporation (Japan) will start sales of its new waterproof/dustproof digital camera called the Caplio 400G Wide January 30th, 2004. The camera is an improvement of the previous Caplio 300G model and the body design is based on the Caplio G4 Wide which was introduced in September of this year. The main feature added to this model is the ability to take wide angle pictures. The camera uses a 35mm film conversion lens with a focal length of 28 – 85mm (F2.6 – 4.3) and an optical 3x zoom. The camera is a 3.24 megapixel camera with a ½.7 inch primary color CCD processor. The camera can record pictures in resolutions of 2048x1536 / 1280x960 / 640x480 pixels.

The camera can also record movies, commonly referred to as digital clip movies, with resolutions of 320x240 (duration 30 seconds) and 160x120 (duration 120 seconds). The camera range is 0.3 meters to infinity. The camera also has a CAL setting on the mode dial that corresponds to the Japanese National Digital Photograph Information Standards. This allows the user to lock photographs to conform to the 1280x960 picture resolution standard.

Ricoh Caplio 400G - Waterproof
The waterproofing conforms to the JIS Protective 7 Class standards and is waterproof up to one meter for a duration of 30 minutes. The dust proofing conforms to the JIS Protective 6 Class standards and can withstand a drop test from 90 centimeters which corresponds to the 810F standard of the Department of Defense.

Ricoh Caplio 400G - Battery
The optical finder of the Ricoh Caplio 400G is a 1.6-inch amorphous silicon TFT LCD display and has a hood in order to increase visibility. The recording medium is an SD card and has a built-in memory of 8MB. The interface is USB and the camera is powered by AA batteries, nickel hydrogen rechargeable batteries and rechargeable lithium ion batteries. The size of the Ricoh Caplio 400G is 135x69.5x75.1 millimeters and weighs approximately 355 grams (digital camera only).
