PIEA 2006 student-teacher photo competition winners : The Photo Imaging Education Association (PIEA), a member association of PMA, Jackson, Mich, USA, announces the winners of the 2006 PIEA International Student-Teacher Photo Competition. The judges have chosen 112 images submitted by 93 entrants out of 5,915 images submitted by 1,330 entrants from 101 schools in seven countries. Winners come from middle schools, high schools, colleges and universities in Australia, Canada, Guatemala, India, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Each award winner and exhibitor will share in the more than US$110,000 in prizes sponsored by 94 generous companies and organizations from six countries.

PIEA 2006 Photo competition
Prizes include film and digital cameras, memory cards, printers, tripods, magazine subscriptions, scholarships, printing paper, batteries and photo accessories. Entrants compete in nine categories by age group. Each category awards Grand, First, Second, Third and Honorable Mention prizes plus Exhibitors.

PMA 2006 International Convention and Trade Show in Orlando
Following the premier exhibition of 112 images at the PMA 2006 International Convention and Trade Show in Orlando, Fla., Feb. 26 - March 1, 2006, two traveling exhibitions will tour venues in Australia, Canada, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States from 2006 to 2008. The winning images can be viewed online at the PIEA PMA website. Judges for 2006 were Frederick Baldwin, founder and director of FotoFest, Houston, Texas; Ray Fisher, retired photojournalist with the Miami Herald newspaper, Miami, Fla.; and Jan Ralph, retired director of Photography and Exhibitions at the United Nations, New York, N.Y.

PIEA is a special membership section of PMA, the world's largest photo industry organization. PIEA members are working dedicated professionals teaching photography and digital imaging at all levels.
