IDG World ExpoMacworld Conference & Expo 2006 San Francisco : IDG World Expo today announced the successful completion of Macworld Conference & Expo in San Francisco, held January 9-13, 2006 at the Moscone Center and now in its 22nd year. Next year's Macworld Conference & Expo in San Francisco will take place January 8-12, 2007 at the Moscone Center. Hundreds of new products were debuted at the event, which featured an exhibit hall filled with over 350 of innovative companies serving the Mac community. During his keynote address, Apple CEO Steve Jobs unveiled the company's first systems to utilize the Intel Core Duo Processor - an improved iMac and the MacBook Pro laptop. Jobs also announced iLife '06 and iWork '06, and the iPod Radio Remote.

Macworld was also the launch event for dozens of other new products: XtremeMac announced several new iPod accessory products including Tango; MicroPack; MicroMemo; HomeShow Audio/Video Connection Kit for iPod; RoadShow Car Audio/Video Cable for iPod with video; and Iconz Sport NBA. SecureMac.com launched MacScan 2.0, a major new release of its security software designed to protect Macs from spyware.

The editors of Macworld magazine scoured the show floor to find the most innovative products at this year's Macworld Conference & Expo. They found 14 products that highlighted the commitment Macintosh developers have for the platform. Winners of the Best of Show Awards included: Adobe Lightroom; Apple MacBook Pro; Apple iLife '06; Browseback from Smile on My Mac; Startly Technologies' Docktopus; Elgato's EyeTV 2; JBL On Time; Google Earth, from Google; iSee 360i, from Advanced Technology Office-ATO; LightZone 1.0 from Light Crafts; Marware Project X; MemoryMiner by GroupSmarts; Micromat Techtool Protege; and Suitcase Fusion from Extensis.

"This years Macworld Conference & Expo showcased the state of the art in computing and consumer electronics products," said Paul Kent, vice president, IDG World Expo. Attendees packed feature presentations by industry luminaries David Pogue, Russell Brown Chris Pirillo and Michael Rubin, speaking on a variety of entertaining and informative topics.
