Olympus E-500 review at DCViews : The Dutch portal web site DCViews has published their review of the Olympus E500 digital SLR camera. With 8.0 million pixels, the Olympus E-500 ensures subjects are always recorded in brilliant detail. Furthermore, rather than using an ordinary Interline Transfer CCD, this model incorporates a Full Frame Transfer CCD (FFT CCD). The Olympus E-500 digital SLR camera features 21 pre-defined scene modes to suit most common situations. Furthermore, based on the FourThirds System, cross-manufacturer compatibility of accessories is also assured. It sets standards on three levels, mechanical, optical and communication, to maximise the performance of camera body, image sensor and lenses.

Olympus E500 - Metering system
According to DCViews: "The 49-segment ESP metering system worked as it should do. And also centre weighted and spot metering delivered consistent results as could be expected from a class camera like this one. All images showed excellent colour, good sharpness and a good dynamic range. There was no evidence of purple fringing and noise was on the same level as with other DSLRs. Colour reproduction is very good with neutral rather than saturated colours. We were very pleased with the performance of the standard zoom lens."
Olympus E-500 dSLR - DCViews review conclusion
DCViews continues: "There are not really that many negative things to say about the E-500. The camera is responsive enough, auto focus is quick and positive, there is minimal shutter lag and it handles like a dream. The only niggle we might have is when focusing in low light levels. What we liked about the Olympus E-500 is the fact that, for the price of an entry level camera, you get a very advanced machine." You want to learn more about this Olympus digital SLR camera?
