 Xerox 8160 and 8142 Wide Format Printer upgrade : Print providers now have more ways to profit with Xerox upgraded Xerox 8160 and 8142 wide format printer server and three new media selection tools. The enhancements help better meet market demand for large full-color posters, banners and point-of-purchase signs by improving efficiency, reducing costs and decreasing waste. According to a study by Tim Greene of InfoTrends, the retail value of wide-format digital graphics in North America this year is $9 billion, and that number is expected to reach nearly $13 billion by 2009. Printers are increasingly using digital wide-format technology as an alternative to more complex and time-consuming production methods such as screen printing.

 Wide format media selection tools
To complement its technology enhancements, Xerox introduced three wide-format media selection tools, which take the guesswork out of selecting the right paper for a print job. Xerox's Wide Format Swatchbook showcases the full range of Xerox supplies available for the graphic arts inkjet market. The book includes paper samples and instructions on how each product handles each media, including product specifications, machine compatibility and operating instructions.
Xerox wide format color printer - Print provider
The improved wide-format color server drives images to the Xerox 8160/8142 systems. It lets print providers preview color changes prior to printing, saving time and conserving paper. Additional enhancements allow people to:
- Position or rotate images for maximum paper usage
- Save job settings for use at a later time
- Integrate the 8160/8142 more easily with existing wide-format equipment
- Ensure color accuracy by printing the right colors on the right paper the first time using prepro- grammed profiles

Print providers who need immediate help selecting the right paper for a job can access the Wide Format Inkjet Media Online Selector Tool on Xerox's Web site. The tool evaluates the type of application and desired ink, and it quickly generates suggestions for the best media to suit the job. Finally, the enhanced Wide Format Paper and Specialty Media Display Graphics Applications Guide covers how each paper handles image quality and durability of graphics. It also provides tips about shelf life, storage requirements, and application ideas and procedures.
