NikonNikon Europe is sponsoring the critically acclaimed M.I.L.K. Exhibition on the UK leg of its international tour. Moments of Intimacy, Laughter and Kinship (M.I.L.K.) are captured in 300 winning photographs, of which 230 will be displayed as a spectacular outdoor exhibition along the Broad Walk, Avenue Gardens, Regent’s Park, London from July 3 2003 – August 17 2003 (open from 10:00 to 20:30 daily). Admission free. Nikon’s decision to sponsor the event comes alongside the launch of their new brand identity which includes of a new logo and strapline – Nikon at the heart of the image. Inspired by the 1950’s exhibition ?The Family of Man’, M.I.L.K. began in 1998 with an epic global search to create a collection of extraordinary images.
The search took the form of a photographic competition attracting the work of leading photographers (including four Pulitzer Prize winners) from 164 countries submitting a phenomenal 40,000 entries. Judged by the legendary Magnum photographer Elliot Erwitt, the resulting M.I.L.K. Collection comprises of 300 images of which over 230 will be displayed in Regent’s Park. A staggering 43% of those displayed were taken with Nikon cameras.

“M.I.L.K. began as a dream, became an ambitious adventure and gathered strength as it grew. We see now that it took on a life of its own, ceased to be a project and became instead a gift,” says M.I.L.K. creator, Geoff Blackwell.

More than just an exhibition, M.I.L.K. takes the form of an impressive, large scale, all weather, open air display that will run over 200 metres, down the length of the main Broad Walk in Avenue Gardens, Regent’s Park with the photographic images measuring up to 2 metres wide. Located at the end of the exhibition will be a 6 metres x 5 metres marquee screening a powerful audio-visual presentation of selected M.I.L.K. images.

Also in the marquee, visitors can enter a competition to win a Nikon F75 – the latest addition to its AF SLR film range. An affordable entry point to SLR photography, the F75 also has many of the advanced features and innovations that are standard in Nikon F5, F100 and F80 SLRs, offering the keen enthusiast a fully featured foundation to the Nikon SLR system.

Hideshi Hirai, President of Nikon Europe comments: “Nikon is thrilled to help bring this truly inspiring photographic exhibition to London. Our new brand image is all about giving people the ability to turn experiences into lasting memories which fits perfectly with M.I.L.K - stories celebrating family life, friendship and love, conveying real and spontaneous emotion. And Nikon truly is at the heart of the image. Almost half of the images you will see in this exhibition have been taken with a Nikon camera.”

Avenue Gardens is in the South East corner of Regent’s Park. Nearest tube stations are Regent’s Park, Great Portland Street and Baker Street. Pay and display parking in and around the park.
