Steve's DigicamsOlympus SP350 review at Steves Digicams : Our good friends at Steves Digicams have published their review of the Olympus SP-350 digital camera. The SP-350 is boasting 8.0 million pixels and is coupled with an accurate auto focus and precision 3x zoom lens (38-114mm on a 35mm camera). Additionally the Olympus SP350 offers 24 scene modes and P/A/S/M exposure modes to ensure all-round creativity. Even movie recording in VGA quality at 30fps with sound is possible. The ergonomic, ultra-compact SP350 camera features a histogram function that lets exposure distribution be shown in both shooting and playback modes directly on the extra-large 6.4cm LCD. Optional accessories gives the Olympus SP-350 a further edge.
Olympus SP350 review at Steves DigicamsOlympus SP-350 - LCD screen
According to Steve Sanders: "I was happy to see that Olympus included both an eyelevel optical viewfinder and the colour LCD screen. This 2.5" display works well outdoors, even in the bright sun light. While shooting in lower lighting conditions it "gains up" well, allowing you to frame your subject; something you could never do with a 35mm film camera. The all important shutter lag (time between shutter release and capturing the image) measured 2/10 of a second when pre-focused and 9/10 of a second including auto focus; much slower than some of the least expensive models on the market today.

Olympus SP 350 digital camera - Steves Digicams review conclusion
Steve continues: "Image quality was actually quite good for an 8-megapixel consumer model. The majority of our outdoor samples were sharp and well exposed, but I did see some noticeable edge blurring, like image noise, which can only be seen when viewing images at 100% and is very unlikely to be seen in any of your prints. Speaking of noise, I found levels were average at lower ISO speeds, noticeably increasing at ISO 200 and 400. You want to learn more about the Olympus digital camera? For this approach Steve is well known world wide and he is welcome to it by his many readers. Beside test reports Steve's site has various other items, like a forum, camera specifications, daily "breaking" news.
