Steve's DigicamsOlympus SP310 review at Steves Digicams : Our good friends at Steves Digicams have published their review of the Olympus SP-310 digital camera. The SP-310 is boasting 7.1 million pixels and is coupled with an accurate auto focus and precision 3x zoom lens (38-114mm on a 35mm camera). Additionally the Olympus SP310 offers 24 scene modes and P/A/S/M exposure modes to ensure all-round creativity. Even movie recording in VGA quality at 30fps with sound is possible. The ergonomic, ultra-compact SP310 camera features a histogram function that lets exposure distribution be shown in both shooting and playback modes directly on the extra-large 6.4cm LCD. Optional accessories gives the Olympus SP-310 a further edge.
Olympus SP310 review at Steves DigicamsOlympus SP-310 - Digital compact
According to Steve Sanders: "The ergonomics of this model is pretty awesome. Even though it is very compact, the large handgrip affords a secure and comfortable fit in your hands, and the various controls laid out on the body of the camera fall naturally under your finger tips. The SP-310's shooting performance was slightly better than its sibling, but still disappointing. Power up to first image is captured averaged 3.6 seconds. We feel the shooting performance suffers due to the very slow recording media (xD-picture card.)"

Olympus SP 310 digital camera - Steves Digicams review conclusion
Steve continues: "I was pleased with the image quality if its 7 Megapixel SHQ images. Our outdoor samples were sharp, well exposed and showed good overall colour balance. Noise levels were average, becoming more noticeable as the ISO speed is increased. Battery life was also disappointing. At first I thought that the set of 2500mAh NiMH cells that I was using were bad. However it seemed no matter what set was used, it was about the same.
