PentaxPentax Optio WPi review : Quite soon after Pentax had introduced the first Optio WP camera, the Pentax Optio WPi was born. The Pentax WPi at first glance seems to be a compact digital camera for the day to day photography if it weren't for its ability of photographing underwater. This feature is still quite unique on current digital cameras; few manufacturers offer this enhanced creative possibility. When making the step in taking the Pentax Optio WPi as your companion underwater you can count on a functioning camera to a depth of 1.5 metres for a maximum time span of 30 minutes. If you do want to photograph underwater for a longer period of time and deeper than 1.5 metres you'd have to look for a separate underwater case.

With a slim, flat body boasting a depth of a mere 2.2cm, the Pentax Optio WPi can be easily slipped in and out of a pocket, bag or case. An ergonomic contoured grip design provides users with a more confident, more comfortable shooting experience. The Pentax OptioWPi makes use of a high-quality aluminium alloy for the front panel with a hairline finish that gives it a pleasant texture of high quality. The rounded overall form of the Optio WPi camera is accentuated by a water ring design element, a four-way control key and other details that give the camera a look that is both sophisticated and user-friendly. Despite its slim, flat body dimensions, the Optio WPi camera features a large, 2.0-inch LCD monitor with 115,000 pixels for speedy and precise confirmation of recorded images. This low-reflection monitor also features a backlighting mechanism that effectively maximizes visibility, even when used outside on sunny days, and additionally offers a "Power saving mode" that automatically reduces backlighting intensity to make batteries last longer.

Pentax Optio WPi digital camera review
The Pentax Optio WPi is an entry level digital camera aiming at a large group of consumers who prefer a simple straightforward and fast way of photographing. It's an easy to operate camera with a handy size. You won't find enhanced settings on such a camera; you'd have to look for a more advanced digital camera if you want more advanced settings. The Pentax Optio WPi however does offer a wealth of pre-set shooting modes which automatically decide the ideal camera setting under different shooting circumstances. The Pentax WPi has been tested in practice and our experiences can be read in the next WPi digital camera review.
