The guys from Imaging Resource produced an in-depth review of the Olympus Camedia C-5000z camera. This is one of the most recent models and updates the earlier Olympus Camedia C-4000z camera. The C-5000z is a 5 Megapixel camera with a wide variety of settings for the photo enthusiastic, but functions well as an user-friendly high resolution camera as well. The C-5000z shares its place with the C-5050 and C-5060 wide zoom cameras but with the advantage of having a very friendly price tag. According to Imaging Resource: "The C-5000 Zoom is missing a few of the extra details that the C-4000 boasted, such as the histogram display, movie editing capability, viewfinder diopter adjustment, AF modes, and Multi-Spot exposure metering."

"Still, the camera is capable and able to handle just about any exposure situation, with an intuitive user interface."
The Olympus C-5000z was announced during the IFA event in Berlin, but was not showcased at all. There were almost no traditional photo brands like Olympus present at the IFA event.
